I guess that would technically be right, even though Dyson did all the damage.

edit: actually, shouldn't both technically be earned? After the double, the throwing error was negated

I think that's pretty sketchy. Probably will not hold up. Holland's run scored on a WP and an error, no way that is an ER.
The scorer's decision has switched both to earned runs.

Always an interesting debate on ER. What actually DID happen versus what WOULD HAVE happened. For me, the fact that the run scored because of a WP and an error makes it not an ER, no matter what the next batter(s) would have done.

IDK, it's a grey area for sure. Maybe Dyson pitches differently if there's a runner on 3rd that inning. So yeah saying that guy would have scored on the double, maybe Dyson doesn't throw that pitch.

I started to think through, what would have happened if the runner took third on the wild pitch but Hundley held on to the ball? Assuming Dyson walks Schwarber who then takes 2nd, would Hundley have held on to the ball again to keep the runner at third? Does the next batter walk as well? With the bases loaded, that double could have turned into a 3 run play, with still just one out.

It's a slippery slope for sure.

He's truly unfair even when his command is spotty. If he's hitting spots hitters don't have a chance.

He's thrown as fast as 104 with his fastball (with movement). He threw a 77 mph pitch that inning. That's illegal

It still baffles me that this team can put up 13 runs or whatever two days ago, then go 6 games and score like 10 total runs.

Or 2 runs in 20 innings.....

Against a team whose pitching has been crap all season. Cubs have great hitting, but their pitching is suspect. Against every other team, evidently. (sigh)

Solid start by Holland, and great inning by BlacKK. tzill approved.

Black can legitimately be the best reliever on this staff (and many other staffs).

WILL he? That's obviously a massive hill to climb and he's had the deck stacked against him thus far. But it's not out of the realm of possibilities.

Best of luck to the young man and hopefully he has his head screwed on tighter than Strick.
