If Beede ever learned control, he might be a really good pitcher.

If the Giants ever learned how to hit rookie pitchers making their first major league start, they might win some games. :tsk:

edit- Belted!

I guess the triple reverse jinx worked. For one batter. Colin would be proud.

And what about phlap doing GDT's? He was 5-5 there for a few games. Or maybe he doesn't want to use all the magic up at once.
TZ keeps hogging....

edit: Oh and some on here don't think it's such a good thing. You know messing up the tank job and all. :noidea:

edit2: I usually do fill ins on weekends, and fri night.

Giant have all of three hits. And for the 5th time in the last 10 games, are 0 for, you know.

And one measly walk.

Giants are 18-11 with four or more walks

Giants are 16-34 with three walks or less

Other teams seem to have no problems hitting at Oracle Park. Why do we?
I don't think the problem is our hitters not hitting at Oracle, its that our hitters aren't hitting . . . anywhere. At a time where baseball has seen a noticeable age shift, this team sticks out in a bad way. They are one of the oldest teams in baseball (I haven't checked to see if Eric Kratz' departure moved the needle enough to get out of the bottom spot in this category).
I posted a few days ago the team's top 5 OPS hitters and how they rank (or would rank) with the rest of MLB. It wasn't pretty. Here's an updated list:
Alex Dickerson - 1.318 (1st, if he could keep this up all season long)
Pablo Sandoval - .895 (47th)
Aramis Garcia - .798 (123rd)
Brandon Belt - .780 (147th)
Stephen Vogt - .771 (159th)
When the top 5 in OPS consists a player who just started with the team a week ago, a guy that platoons at the corners, a catcher who is in the minor leagues, a 1st baseman who seems to be on the decline and a backup catcher and none of those with any consistent at-bats (except Sandoval) cannot crack MLB's top 100, there is a good indicator the entire team sucks.

Oh, and a side note on MLB's lean toward younger, I wonder how the rule change for September's rosters to only expand to 28, I think that will see the average age to start going up. A lot fewer guys will get checked out at the end of the season, which I think will mean fewer guys will get considered in spring training and crack rosters at Opening Day. The effect may be only a trickle but I do think it will impact the amount of young players on active rosters during the season.

I wonder what team has given up the most first career wins over the last 10 years or so. This is another one of those uncanny trends that just make zero sense...

Well, all things considered, Young Beeduh looked OK. I'm cautiously optimistic that he can be a piece of our rotation moving forward.
