Now the question is. If we are serious about contending. What SP do we go after?

Cain is not a reliable starter right now, Vogelsong flip-flops every week and Lince....better left unsaid.

We need to upgrade

I don't think there's any question we need one, and the FO knows it too. We'll surely be in on most of the available names: Samardzija, Price, Hamels, maybe Cliff Lee...

Timmy will go to the pen and that's just how it has to be, we have a pennant to win. We will probably also get a 2B, because let's be real it's not likely Panik is the answer just yet, it would be really unusual for a rookie to step in and do what's needed on a playoff team. Could happen, would be great, and we have a month to see if it does.

I'm now seeing stuff about the White Sox actually shopping Alexei Ramirez which is a surprise, but apparently they like their up and coming guys enough to consider that. Not sure if he could play 2B for us, I don't see why not...

Yeah, I mean I get why some don't want to overpay for Samardzjia given his ERA fluctuating some years (last year too). But he has been great this year. Would be a big upgrade for us

Any deal is a risk, but the guy is clearly a real pitcher, good enough to be a #3, especially in our park.

We should be ready to be mad about who we have to deal though. It's never fun to trade away some future help to win now, but you gotta strike when you have a window and we do this year.

I am thinking any pitcher deal we make STARTS with Crick AND Susac. Both are legit prospects, but neither are big enough to bring a big name back on their own.

The additions of Beede and Garcia make both somewhat expendable right now.

Replay does the same.

Bud Black wasn't arguing the replay call; he was arguing for Smith to not get sent back to third. The umps have discretion there to allow Smith to score on the GRD, but they sent him back to third. Didn't matter, but Buddy was right.

I'd really like the pre-$20 million a year Cain back, please. This new and improved, upgraded and wealthier Cain is a steaming pile.

One might even call him a fecal fiesta.
