Bright Spots!

1.) Our bullpen won't blow a lead

2.) If trends continue, our Matt Cain contract will work out much better than the Tigers' Verlander contract

If we could win 2 rings with Zito's contract on the books, imagine how many we can win with Timmeh's AND Matty's contracts on the books!

I think we can win 3 in 2 this time around!!

Pessimistic note;


Lincecum was ELITE then declined in a big way, we are starting to see the same from Cain.

I do get SP's do get worse with age (most of them), but seems to be earlier for Lincecum and Cain. Has the team just overworked them over the years iris it something else?

7 of the 8 Chicago runs have scored with 2 outs. Hopefully, the Cain that used to pitch here through 2012 will show up one of these days. Don't feel confident anymore when he starts, just like with Lincecum.

Not too long ago, that was us.

At least the SP blew this one well before the bullpen got involved. Should have known things were going to go wrong after Beckham hit that HR in the 3rd.

Cain's best was never anywhere near Timmeh's best. He was always just a solid, consistent 1/2 pitcher. Since his perfecto, that has not been the case.

We need Posey to be Posey again. He has been mediocre at best this year so far, though he's had a really good stretch or two.

We need Posey to be Posey again. He has been mediocre at best this year so far, though he's had a really good stretch or two.

I think issue for Posey this year has been the back, really kept him from having his timing down and having the same swing,

If his back is hampering his performance to this extent, why not rest him on the DL for a while, and bring up Teh Susser?

His back has improved now. Hitting .327 in June starting to settle in
