Joseph Fauria should be in and Michael Williams on the PT. Williams was completely lost out there Friday night. We can use Waddle and Fox on the Goal line plays.

Dylan Gandy is definitely in. The last O-line spot to either Austin or Scott unless we carry 10 which I doubt.

Mike Thomas is out and either Terrence Austin or Chaz Schilens is in. Thomas ST play cant save him now. Too many guys that can do that. Save some money too. Maybe keep Kickalicious.

T Lewis out and C Greenwood in. Lewis is actually competing against Messina for the backup MLB.

R Lewis is out (some team will grab him as a 3-4 OLB). We will keep one of the DTs (Fluellen, Nwagbuo, Sad-Mac)

Either Spievay or Johnson is out and we keep Spurlock as a WR/KR.

Way too soon to be deciding who's in or out. There's a reason that they play four preseason games, not just one...

Not too shabby, I agree with about 90-95% of that.

I think Montell Owens makes it at RB and I don't see us risking cutting Greenwood, but other than than I think this is spot-on.

As a numbers guy I play risk/reward in every decision I make. Greenwood has zero film for teams to evaluate, absolutely none. He has been injured his entire career. I put the odds someone takes him off our PS to put on their active roster ridiculously low (3.125%, 1 of 32 teams). Think about the other guys you would have to cut for him to have an active roster spot?

Greenwood is just a great athlete with awesome measurables, until that translates to something on the field the PS is the spot for him.

I definitely love to get him on the practice squad, it's just risky. I'm not as worried about the initial risk of getting him through waivers, but when injuries start to mount later in the season that's where I'd fear him getting plucked.

I agree that the best place for him right now is indeed the practice squad.

The addition of Myron Lewis today further clouds the DB picture. I see him moving to safety for us, as I think that suites his skill-set much better. Maybe he can fill that #4 safety spot for us and send Spievey down the road?

I have DJ Johnson on my 53...now do you see the connection?

It just threw me off guard that you we're re-posting something from a banned user. That guy whose post you referenced, Principal57, bailed to the south pacific due to some nefarious reasons, so the opinion of him around here is pretty low, to say the least.

I agree with you that DJ Johnson has a good shot to make the roster. If Greenwood can't get some good reps in a hurry here, he's in danger of getting cut. That would open up the 6th CB spot for a guy like Johnson. I also think he could get some action in that 4th safety spot- he's got the size for it and it fits his skill-set better than CB...

Unfortunate that you forgot to edit his name out- that's not a guy you want to be associated with around here...

I would cut Corey G...no great loss...doubt he makes the 53 anyhow.

I think we're probably going to keep 6 LBs, so that last spot would appear to be a two way battle between Corey Greenwood and rookie Brandon Hepburn. Greenwood is a known special teams cover man, and that's a big necessity out of a reserve LB. However, Hepburn has some size and good speed, so he's got better potential in the defense than Greenwood does.

That being said, we won't be rolling with only 5 LBs, so cutting either guy in favor Chris Greenwood is pretty unlikely.

I hope you are right about Hepburn...would love to see him win that job...5 LBs sounds ridiculously low, but JS has said it will not come down to #s at positions for those final spots...guys will have to be able to contribute.... he said something like that when talking about Kickalicious who could win a spot simply because he can kickoff.

Isnt that what coming up with a 53 man roster is doing? I can only make decisions as if the season was starting tomorrow with the information I have. It could 180 next week after seeing more and probably will.

It would be a nice surprise. Spievay does not impress me and has had some chances. Lewis was a bust at CB but could be another Carey with more upside.

I gotcha, they're "out" in your roster prediction.

I guess I forgot about the title to the thread and was just kind of reading it at face value, but with some context it makes much more sense.

My bad...
