What we are seeing (again) is that hitting is a luxury while pitching is a requirement.

Lol. I just watched that too. Regardless of the call, Jerry Layne (the umpire) needed to go home anyway.

What we are seeing (again) is that hitting is a luxury while pitching is a requirement.

The SP component is certainly making headway but can the same be said for the 'pen that ranks 20th in mlb w/4.01 era?

The pen is certainly an issue right now. But a) I think we expected this coming in with the aging and defection/retirements; and b) Kontos and Romo are currently out. Kontos will likely be back tomorrow, but Romo looks to be out for a while still.

I am still concerned about the bully, but I think it is still fixable, and the fact that this team has so few holes that need filling just means that the team can focus on that hole at the deadline if needed.

Agreed, but there are some promising signs. Casilla has been resilient of late. Kontos is looking ready. Strickland is not perfect but I sense improvement. Lopez has steadied. It may not be the Core Four, but it may do.

Agree to everything. Everyone is getting new roles, and that takes time to settle.

Also, with the starters pitching better the pen can get better. Pretty hard for a pen to be nails for 4-5 innings per game.

they were really only doing that for 40% of the games early. The big 3 were keeping them rested.
