Bush has lost both his explosiveness & elusiveness. He is basically a third down back now. Paying a third down back not named Sproles $4 mil a year is a waste of resources.

Pears is just terrible & signing him to anything other than the league minimum is ridiculous.

Third time's a charm..... ahem. Eric Pears is the furthest thing from "good depth" in the NFL.

I don't know how you guys can say Bush has lost a step. Not sure how anyone could say he hasn't either.

Dude wasnt on the field enough to tell either way.

His YPC went down, he had one of his lowest years receiving (yards) and he's 30.

I was making fun of him for being a walking injury report.

He's clearly not what he once was.

But he doesn't have to be in order to be Valueable. He's been a pro since he was 18, that's a long career.

I don't know you enough to decipher the difference. You could be another Jordan Taber.
You should at least assume that I wouldn't be a moderator if I was that much of a wheels off homer.

It's okay, though, let's bury the hatchet and be amigos.

GOOD moves? Are you out of your mind? I don't know what Pears' contract is, but how you offer Bush $16M for 4 years ($4M guaranteed) to an injury prone, 30 year old RB who CLEARLY lost his step last year is beyond me.

Not grading Pears because I don't know the details, but I can say - why pay for a 32 (soon to be 33) year old guard who was EASILY one of the worst members of the line in Buffalo. Not to mention he's one of the worst starting guards according to pro football focus. I don't get why you just don't draft or sign someone younger to coach up. The 9ers aren't in a position to compete for the division anytime soon.

Regardless, it's easily a D for the Bush signing (don't even get me started on Wright). And no trust me (because in before 9ers fans freak out) that's not jealousy or am I upset. Feel free to plug in Bush next year 9ers... I hope they go into the season with him as their starter.

Pears and Bush. Well we know one thing for certain, Pears' crappy play will allow Bush to get injured at some point. Maybe it's some sick game the 49ers' FO is playing.

First, this draft, according to "draft experts", is supposedly thin at OL, G specifically. Baalke went short term with a guy who may very well NOT be on the roster by the first of the season. Kilgore started, Marcus Martin was drafted as a G/C, Brandon Thomas was a high round pick stashed on IR and should compete for the starting job. Looney has been serviceable while Boone was out and IMO was better in pass protection then Iupati. And we have Boone on the other side. Provided that Kilgore comes back healthy, Martin and Thomas would be competing for the G position. Pears was signed as experienced training camp fodder. If he plays well enough, he may win the swing tackle job that Jonathan Martin currently has.

Second, Martin, Kilgore, and Thomas are exactly the younger players that will be coached up that were eluding to. I'm guessing that going against Dockett, Dorsey, and possibly Cowboy will slap our young'ns around with great lessons that they can learn from.
