Wasn't really a dirty hit, it was a late hit. Yeah, Stanton was sliding, but Smith hit him with his shoulder.

1st one was dirty, but shouldn't have been a call. Second one was clearly a penalty.

Regarding the first one, what is a defender supposed to do? Just let the ball carrier just keep running? He didn't lead with his head and Stanton was still upright when he went to hit him.

Regarding the second one, I didn't see any contact with the helmet on the replay.

I agree the second call was just a football play. The first one was definitely a penalty. Stanton was practically already on his ass!

Whoops. I mixed them up. 1st one was a penalty... nothing the defender could do but that doesn't change the fact that it was helmet to helmet. Second one was just a hard hit.
