I have wondered this exact thing.

It should be IG, clock continues to run.

There needs to obvious pressure to call IG. In clocking situations there is none.

So when a qb spikes the ball who is the intended receiver?

By rule, you can spike the ball immediately after the snap and it's not intentional grounding. But if you hesitate, it is. The Bears missed the playoffs in 2011 after Caleb Hanie did a pump-fake on a spike and was called for intentional grounding. It happens.

Kaep is simply inconsistent. When he is good, he is a top 5 QB. When is bad, he struggles to make a practice squad.
