I was quoting Evan Roberts who was just talking about it on the radio. I should have used the google

Why would they sign Adam Jones when they've already got Brett Gardner?
All either one of them are good for is defense these days, and at least Gardner will take a walk.
looking at brett Gardners numbers is all the more reason to sign Adam Jones lol. BG can take a few more walks but Jones has him on pretty much every category But Ellsbury doesn't look like he will be ready opening day
Kind of an interesting list. How in hell does Tommy Pham get in here?
Matt Chapman too.
Jones has diminishing power, lousy OBP for an outfielder plus he's atrocious in the outfield. Any advantage Jones has offensively is undermined by his defense IMO.

They have enough outfielders. Judge and Hicks will start in right a center. Left will be split between Giancarlo and Gardner and it looks like Frazier is healthy and should compete for the job. AL teams only carry 3 bench players most of the time so carrying more than 5 outfielders (With Giancarlo DH'ing as well) isn't feasible. Gardner played too much last year, they need to keep him at 300 at bats at this point of his career.
Absolutely. We need to hope that Frazier can take a major bite out of Gardner's playing time.

Chapman isn’t surprising at all.
His glove is phenomenal and his bat is very good and improving.
Gleeman likes to blame everything on coaching and management no matter what, it can never be the players fault even a little bit.
Hicks checked out when he got to the majors and thought he could skate by on talent alone. There were multiple instances when he would show up to the ballpark without knowing who the opposing pitcher was that day.
The reason that the Twins publically criticized his work ethic is because he had very little.
He also made bird brain decisions about whether or not he would keep switch hitting. First he suggested that he only hit righty, then he tried it for a few days in the minors and then went back to being a switch hitter, then he suggested it again when he got back up to the majors.
That he's doing well now is due to him finally taking his career seriously and his struggles here were at least partly on him. I'd say mostly actually.
Buyer beware for the Yankees, because he could easily check out again after getting paid.
