With the players siding with their coaches and Scioscia ... Dipoto was going to be out. I seem to remember couple of years ago ... may be quite awhile ago ... that Scioscia wanted to be both GM and manager. May have been something that was done back in the old days but don't think one guy can do all that any more.

Wonder who LAA goes after to be at least interim GM ... knowing Scioscia would ostensibly working for you.

Maybe Scioscia takes the GM job and they get a new field manager?

I think the tough choice is whether to demote Rua or Martin. Rangers may want to salvage Martin and think AAA is best approach but yes Rua needs consistent playing time IMO. Also have to deal with Alberto and Rosales on 25 man and pitchers ready to go off DL. Going to have some interesting choices ahead if all healthy.

Martin has ha his chances, he's beyond salvaging, plus they need someone to play CF and it shouldn't be Hamilton

Maybe they will go after Thad Levine.

(JTA/Romeo ... don't read any of the following)

As the only RH COF bat I don't think DDJ bumps Rua to AAA. In the short term might be Alberto who gets bumped. But more and more it looks like a casualty sooner than later is going to be Adam Rosales. A bench of Rua and Alberto covers backup at every infield and COF position. Alberto is important to sprout Andrus.

Once DDJ is back and up to speed ... then TEX might option Martin (with Alberto returning) and have Hamilton backup DDJ in CF. When Martin is back up to speed ... say in August ... then when he returns that would spell the end for Rosales.

IMO.

I don't mind Rua being a bench player in the future, but for now I would like him to play everyday and then as soon as we have a COF go down or get traded bring him back up to start.

This is kinda what I thought would happen, him or Choo would sit, probably going to take the chance to rest Hamilton against LHPs for a week or so

Think you are right ... getting Josh going may be a project maybe platooning (lower case) with Rua for now. Might even see Josh DH and giving Prince a full day off now and then too. Having Prince as a late inning bat off the bench would be very scary. More than Josh would be right now.

Choo has woken up in BAL ... interesting. Why drop him to #7 where his protection is Chirinos versus Prince? Will be very surprising to see how effective the Alberto-Andrus combination is atop the batting order. Somebody is into this lefty - righty thing.

I think one of the reasons that the Rangers may not send Rua to AAA is he may not be thought of as in the same vein as a Gallo, Profar, Alfaro and guys like that. He could be a very productive and versatile but not a guy they feel they need to make sure he gets his ABs so that when he is called up to the MLB club he does not miss a beat. Not sure if they came out right but I just think it is the reason he stays and a guy like Alberto may too.

If you want Rua to be able to step in without missing a beat when Hamilton or goes down he needs to be hitting every day.

He's played with that 2 hole all year. Why change whats working?

Maybe BannyRooster is wanting Elvis to get his bullshit done in front of the meat of the lineup so that it's out of the way, rather than after, in what I assume would otherwise be some sort of jack-assed rally-killing fuckwad bunt job.

Can't make Prince that happy following Alberto-Andrus ... coming up with 2 outs so his single to LF is meaningless ... although he's never going to say anything.

Prince has established himself as a leader of this team. If there's no one on base for him to drive in, then he will get on base and let AB or Big Mitch handle the job of driving him in. His attitude could not be better, and he's a player we've really needed.
