Really hope Choo keeps it going and Beltre gets his swing back with some pop.

Read that early this morning.

With Gallo sent to AAA and DeShields still at AAA there really is no one to play in LF except Rua.

I'm sure if we took a quick vote in this thread regarding who people would prefer in the lineup, Rua or Martin, it'd be Rua in a landslide.

They're both pretty shitty right now, but Rua's never gotten a chance to get untracked after his injury and should also probably be in AAA

If its a choice between Rua in LF with Hamilton in CF and Hamilton in LF with Martin in CF, then I take Martin in CF everytime right now, at least until DDJ gets back

I still say, send Rua to AAA to get untracked when DDJ is ready, and let him get hot. Let Martin rot on the bench as the 4th OF when DDJ gets back. That way, when Hamilton goes on the 15 day DL again, Rua has been playing every single night in LF and slides right in.

Damn.....nice point (s).

And even if Josh maintains, once Rua gets untracked, send Martin to AAA and let Josh be the backup CF. But only after he proves he's a lot healthier than he is now.

Thanks to this conversation, I've now learned that the word "untracked" has apparently been around long enough to be accepted vernacular. Even though it most likely started out as "on track" (which is the only way I've ever used/heard it).

I've heard both, but "on track" makes more sense to me.

Josh activated, Gallo sent to AAA.

I'm honestly relieved for the guy.

Certainly don't feel there was any damage done to his head via this call-up, nor his various assignments. But, he was over-matched, and he appeared to know it.

Time to get some "re-grouping time" for him, less pressure, and we'll see ya soon Big G.

I am not surprised about that. Martin probably plays most of the time until DD gets back.

I think it was a perfect opportunity for him. He got to see exactly what he needs to work on. I think it would be great for most prospects to get a month or so of everyday playing time in the bigs before coming up for good. It worked out great.

Highlights from Gerry Fraley's chat this afternoon.

He thinks Nick Martinez has another level. "He's got another level. Keep in mind that Martinez is 24 and did not become a full-time pitcher until 2011. He was a second baseman at Fordham."

He thinks we have more to fear this year from the Astros than the Angels.

He thinks the Rangers probably keep Gallardo even if they are sellers at the deadline. "Don't see them trading Gallardo unless a club will over-pay. Think they'd rather try to re-sign him, or get the draft-choice compensation if he departs."

When asked about Kela being overworked he said, "Kela has 36 apperances totalling 32 1/3 innings. In three minor-league seasons he had 80 appearances for 99 1./3 innings. The harder the Rangers push kela, the greater the injury risk. Young pitchers do not respond well to over-work."

He said, "Profar is so far out of the club's thinking at the moment that it's as if he's working out on the dark side of the moon. Rangers will not think about him until the off-season."

He thinks we will be buyers at deadline time.

He give the Rangers a grade of "B" for the first half of this year.

When asked about the rotation going forward this year he said, "Wandy Rodriguez is vulnerable. He's a five-inning guy who puts a lot of stress on the bullpen. The Rangers might considering pulling back with Chi Chi Gonzalez as his innings mount. This is only his second full professional season. Most teams do not like to increase innings by more than 10 percent at this stage of a career. The rotation will be make sure Lewis and Gallardo start every fifth day and build around them."

He had this to say about Ryan Cordell. "Scouts like his bat and his athleticism. They do not think he can play shortstop, where the Rangers have tried him this season. The scouts hold out some hope for him at third but think he would be a better fit in the outfield, at any of the three spots."

Yeah, that in and of itself makes sense. The weird part is all the talk of Hamilton playing CF upon his return.
Yeah, I didn't understand that. He isn't even well yet so he definitely doesn't belong in CF. I think Evan's statement led some astray. Evan Grant is wrong too often about these things. He really needs some better sources or he needs to do a better job of guessing.

Gerry Fraley was asked about it today, and he said he sees Hamilton limited to playing CF 3 times a week at most.

Honestly, the more I think about it, if you look at their statements about Martin, it's probably wishful thinking on their part that Hamilton plays CF. They are completely done with Leonys.

So Hamilton is back. For now. He will be on the DL within 30 days. Does he still have his babysitter or has he screwed her over too like everybody else?
