When the Giants first picked up Luis Gonzalez, I wondered if the former big leaguer had another son, this one named after him, but quickly found out that Luis and Jacob are not related (at least, not that closely). They talked about Gonzo after his HR on the broadcast. After he and his family moved to Arizona, and he played baseball, everyone kept asking him if he were Luis Gonzalez’ kid. He said no for longest time, but the story became old and tired. His actual father’s name is Luis, so he just started answering the question with “yes, he is”. He wasn’t lying.
Speaking of Jacob, he is off to a hot start in the Pirates' org. He's hitting .447/.507/.830 in 13 games with their low A affiliate. I don't know if he ever got close to anything like that at any stretch with the Giants' low A affiliate. Of course, he is also 24 years old.
