cf - Span
2b - Panik
1b - Posey
rf - Pence
c - Brown
ss - Crawford
3b - Duffy
p - Cain
lf - Pagan

One of the hottest hitters gets the night off for another hot hitter. Interesting that Brown is batting 5th tonight. No one with more than 3 at-bats against Ray. Only Goldschmidt has significant at-bats against Cain and he is batting a mere .267 against Cain.

Also, Craw jumped Duffy in the lineup.

Brown seems a whole lot more surprising. That doesn't seem like a typical Bochy move. How often does he insert a backup in the 5th spot, when all the regulars are healthy?

I agree that Brown in the 5 is more shocking. Especially considering that he hasn't played in almost a week.

Cain used to be a legit hitter (for a pitcher). He obviously does not care anymore.

Bum stole his mojo.

His pitch count is too high for him to go deep. But he has looked solid so far.

Agreed. But too inefficient for him to go very deep. OTOH, the Giants are not making Ray work at all...

so, there's that.

Next inning should be his last, unless it's like 7 pitches.

Is it too early to see the back end of the rotation is a disaster? Oh for the old Cain, not the older Cain.

I hear you, brother.

But yes. It is still too early. Apparently, the org is not confidant in Heston/Stratton/Blackburn/Mejia just yet, anyway. We are stuck with Cain/Peavy for at least the next 4-6 weeks, I think.

Wheels just fell off for Cain.

Double sac single triple sac fly single single

Bleah
At least Peavy lasted until the 6th inning. I think that's two nights in a row the pitcher ends an inning and then completely loses it on the mound the next half inning.

I understand, most of those guys are off to poor starts themselves. They sent Mejia back to AA so Lujan and Romero could start in AAA??!? That says something right there. Sacramento's pitching has been awful all around. Romero has probably pitched the best so far.

All our minor league teams are off to poor starts. San Jose is doing aLmost OK, but they were supposed to be some sort if juggernaut.
