While I definitely take Montana over Moon. Nos you really gotta get off the "when it mattered" as a be all end all.

otherwise Eli Manning and Joe Flacco should be kicking a lot of these hall of famers to the curb.

No I don't and who said i'm using it as an end all? If someone is going to sit here and bash my team and bash my vote I'm going to try and defend myself and my team? Fact is this is a QB driven league and I have the best one who ever played and even if you think he wasn't the best who ever played he sure was the best in big games.

The difference between the best and 10th best tackle or guard all time is not nearly as big as the difference between the best and 10th best QB.

I apologize but who gives a phuck about Shannon Sharpe, he didn't revolutionize shit.

Hutson looks great on paper? What does that even mean, he dominated his era more than any receiver who ever played including Rice. By saying on paper you fall into that modern players are better bullshit and if that's how we are looking at things why draft players from the past? Oh, wait a second you only have 2 players who played prior to 1970 never mind you didn't really draft a lot of players from the past.

Hutson looks great on paper, and I agree we have to look at people and how they dominated there peers, but Rice is 2... Sharpe made Gronk and every other TE that splits out now... Yippie is for having 1200 in 1967, not revolutionizing a position...

You're vote was his back 7... 2 of which were out of position, leaving either DT or Mathis to cover Thurman Thomas or Sharpe or playing Rice 1on1 which is rediculous either way you look at it...

Who exactly are Ware and Suggs covering? LT? Not in this lifetime or any other. He has you dominated so badly at RB & FB it's shocking you'd wanna mention anything about the positions.

Ware and Suggs are playing OLB in a 3-4 they won't be guarding anybody, they'll be in his backfield... 1on1 coverage on the outsides and 2 great coverage safeties will be covering his TE and RBs... His strength is his running game with a shoty Oline and weak receivers... I can run 9 in the box and be okay...

Shannon Sharpe didn't do shit...? You can't be serious...

finishing his career as the NFL’s all-time leader in receptions (815), receiving yards (10,060) and receiving touchdowns (62) by a tight end until Tony Gonzalez surpassed all three of these records, including breaking his total yardage record on October 5, 2008. Sharpe holds the distinction of being the first tight end ever to amass over 10,000 receiving yards.

Yeah, sounds like he sucked and didn't do shit outside of the paper... Kinda reminds me of Hutson...:noidea:

Yeah... Likely story...

Posted this on the other thread but decided to put it here too so my view can be discussed if needed...

My rankings of this draft...

1. WLK
2. Nos
3. UK
4. Shane

So like I said Shane had a squad, but not better than mine... And I voted for UK because with strength and weaknesses factored in and benches, I liked UKs Oline better... In my experience, the Oline is where you win and lose... Skill positions have rare players that do rare things, but those players need time from the Oline to make that happen... Felt that UKs Oline would do slightly better than Nos... That is why I went with J...

I have the beat o-lineman ever and the most versatile on ever. Also possibly 3 top 10 of all-time. Also potentially when it's all said and done 4 HOFr's. So your might be the best but dont act like my o-line would get pushed around. Plus my back combo, you wont see a better one, so that cancels things out.

This is fun. Keep thinking your safeties and corners will bottle his team up and your offense will exploit his defense, nonsense at it's finest.

Reminds you of Hutson huh, how many records does Sharpe have? Sharpe averaged a massive 49 yards per game for his career, oooh what a game changer oh and he never lead the league in anything. Hutson's records have stood for 70+ years, how long with Sharpe's records last, oops he doesn't have any.

Kellen Winslow & Mike Ditka were better. Sharpe isn't even the best TE of his generation, Gonzalez was much better.

Trojan just vote for Team E, so we can end this in a three-way tie.

Btw...someone if they have time should do a position by position comparison of these three team matchups, offense and defense. I will put mine up in awhile it will just take a minute.

And Montana doesn't get 2 points over Brady :pound:

Beattie Feathers is the first running back to rush for 1,000 yards in a season, does that make him revolutionary? You ever even heard of him?

FACT! Most of us have great offensive lines, to think one team would keep defenses off their QB and another wouldn't is foolish.

I thought you had one of the best o-lines. Odgen and Roaf are so close too, also Munchak and Faneca.

1 Gonzalez
2. Ditka
3 Winslow
4. Sharpe
5. Casper
6. Mackey
7. Gates
8. Newsome
9. Christensen

How can you rate Casper over Gates?
Casper played from 1974-1984, 378 catches, 5,216 yards, 52 TD, 5 Pro Bowls, 5 All Pro, 1970 All Decade
Gates started in 2003, 788 catches, 10,014 yards, 99 TD, 8 Pro Bowls, 5 All Pro, 2000 All Decade, 05 TE of year.

Gates has essentially double the stats that Casper has in the same amount of time. Same thing with Sharpe.

Because of the time Casper played was much different, you cant only use numbers to prove greatness.

I'm too lazy to look it up but I wonder how Casper's 5,216 yards compares to other TE's of his era.

Yes, Casper did play in a different era, but it wasn't so different that Gates has managed to double his stats while playing 1 year longer than Casper.
