finishing his career as the NFL’s all-time leader in receptions (815), receiving yards (10,060) and receiving touchdowns (62) by a tight end until Tony Gonzalez surpassed all three of these records, including breaking his total yardage record on October 5, 2008. Sharpe holds the distinction of being the first tight end ever to amass over 10,000 receiving yards.

Beattie Feathers is the first running back to rush for 1,000 yards in a season, does that make him revolutionary? You ever even heard of him?

You can twist it how you like but to say a guy was the first to rush for 1000 yards is equal to a guy who turned tight ends from athletic tackles to guys expecting WR money because they split out and go down field as opposed to blocking and working drags down the middle are 2 different things and you know it... Ditka was not nearly the athlete Sharpe was nor ever would be, I'd say in a traditional offense he's easily the better TE as is Winslow, neither Ditka nor Winslow could do what Sharpe did either... Sharpe was also part of a unit that blocked for a 2000 yard rusher so he could block too... But his ability to cause mismatches made Rod Smith and Ed McCafferey better... Before Sharpe tight ends weren't the weapons they are today...

But jeffros point stands... Those guys were the best of their times but Sharpe changed the game... To double productivity at a position and basically make it so that every team has to have a player in your mold is revolutionizing a position... Whether you consider him to be the best TE or not because another player came along and did it better than you so quickly doesn't negate his greatness nor his contributions to the game... And beside that he's a fuckin monster and matchup nightmare...

When comparing Sharpe to Ditka. I do think Sharpe was underrated, he could be #2. I was saying the same thing about TO compared to Hutson, he did drop balls, but his athleticism was off the charts. Hutson didn't have his reach, range, speed, strength, etc. Could Hutson make that much of mismatch compared to TO.

I guess we can move on but this is my favorite part of this stuff damnit!!! Thanks for ruining my fun Nos...:gaah:

Seriously enjoyed the last few pages of this... IMO that passion is what will make these drafts better... If you feel invested in your team your going to check in to see if your up to pick, and you're going to be PISSED when you lose... It should be that way IMO, it's a competition... We all have our opinions and most times we agree but when we don't we should hammer at it... Right or wrong it's your opinion and if you truly believe it, then speak on it... Anyway, enjoyed it! Now on to kick some ass in hoops!:yahoo:

I agree completely with this statement... I personally view Hutson like Welker... I think he's better because of what he accomplished but you can't teach size and speed, and while I'm sure Hutson would benefit from today's science in that department, he would also face people who are bigger stronger faster as you stated and have studied and are being coached on his strength and weaknesses... Back then I'd image coaches saying "stay in front of him damn it" not studying hours of film and breaking down his tendencies...

I signed up, but you can only have one team or you have to pay. Plus the players only go back to 1941

Shit really? I thought it said it allowed up to 3 teams for free.

2-3 is really all we need.
