I don't mind the 3-2-1-0 system, as long as an OT win is worth the same as a regulation win. Overtime IS a party of hockey, so it shouldn't be diminished.

You know what's sort of a simple fix that would never happen? No OTL point, and only one point for a SOW. It shows the actual worth of the shootout as a mere talent show, and teams would go all out in OT. You'd probably have to lengthen OT here too. So, in essence, OT is just a lengthened part of the game (which is beyond fair), and having to go to a SO is deemed as a "lesser" win, which it essentially is, and the loser point is eliminated.

problem with that (and problem with current system): every game should be worth the same amount of points, whether it be 3 or 2 or whatever.

1983-84 - Five-minute sudden-death overtime to be played In regular-season games that are tied at the end of regulation time.

since the original six era(1942)they played 2 pts for win,1 for tie and 0 for loss.
the fans had no problem with this system for 40 years, and IMO the league should have left well enough alone.

As an additional hook, the league should give the 3-2-1-0 points system a try in a shortened 48 game season.

That's actually a great idea.
