A guy's head being down doesn't give you free reign to hit him however you want.

Completely disagree with that notion, he didn't move his knee out or extend it. He used it for leverage to get a better hit on Rosival.

I haven't wound it up to watch it again, but it looked to me that Brown's knees were outside of his shoulders.
He may have meant to hit him with the shoulder only, but the knee was what did the damage.

I could be wrong, but on the few replays CBC showed... that looked worthy of 5 + a game imho. I'm sure the screencaps will arrive shortly to hopefully clear it up.

Agree with you on that but in the 1st Kopitar was going in the Phoenix zone and had his head down. He was hit in the head, no call....

But I don't see your point anyhow. That hit has nothing to do with this hit and doesn't impact the legality of this hit.
