Bob McKenzie, you're way off, Doan had plenty of time to stop and avoid that hit and he decided to ram Lewis from behind into the boards. I don't understand this love affair with Shane Doan, he's a repeat offender with numerous bad hits and everybody loves him because he's a good Christian lad and doesn't swear.

Gimme a break.

yup. He's playing like a beast. he's also playing like a bitch.
I have enough trouble trying to justify Kesler playing like that.

and I called the hit on Sedin clean as soon as it happened. that's not what pisses me off. Nothing wrong with hard hits at all.
but if you are man enough to dish 'em out, also be man enough to take 'em without acting like you were sniped from the balcony.

Okay, that's fair, he does have somewhat of a checkered history in that regard...

How are the Canucks fans on here taking this Kings run. On one side, it feels good to know that Vancouver actually played well vs L.A even though they lost in 5. On the other, if the Canucks had gotten out of that first round, you could be doing this.

Just saw the highlights, looked like Phoenix completely lost their composure in this game. It is going to be tough to bounce back.

Just realized, we could be on pace for a Darryl Sutter-John Tortorella rematch from 2004. (Gelinas goal should have counted!).

A Thought on Supplemental Discipline

The Coyotes have demonstrated in these playoffs that they are not afraid to go after other teams’ star players and in fact try to injure them. Before tonight’s bullshit which we all know about, there was the Torres hit on Hossa in the first round where he was clearly trying to take him out and hurt him seriously.

At what point do we look at Dave Tippet as the one condoning this behavior by his team? When a coach puts his tough guys out at the end of a game and they start shit, the coach gets fined.

There is clearly a pattern here with the Coyotes. Usually I think of Tippet as being one of the best coaches in the game, but now I’m thinking he might be the one responsible for his team’s undisciplined, nasty, and dangerous play. Perhaps he should face supplemental discipline.

I’m afraid that if he doesn’t, the Coyotes are going to really try to take one or more of the Kings’ star players out for the remainder of the playoffs. I don’t want to see any Kings player in the position that Marion Hossa was.

I disagree. Lewis turned his back as Doan was about to hit him. What was Doan supposed to do?

This series is over. Whoever comes out of the East better beware. The Kings will be ready.

To be fair, I think Lewis wanted to protect the puck.. and himself and also move the puck up along the boards, I mean why on earth would someone want to face a hit along the boards? These fuckers can stop on a dime and give the goalies snow showers, not being able to slow down is complete bullshit.

Panger is also an idiot.

You have to consider the fact that Phoenix was already being penalized for the slash on Brown prior to the Doan hit on Lewis. Lewis knew a penalty was being called and turned to protect the puck in order to take advantage pf the delayed penalty call. Regardless, the responsibility is on Doan in that situation and he made a bad decision (he also got away with a boarding penalty earlier in the game that wasn't called).

from what i saw Lewis realized there was a delayed penalty and was trying to protect the puck so they could get the goalie off for a 6 on 5. most smart players in the league would do just that...although he messed up by putting his face 2 inches from the top of the boards.
