Very true. I think with Golson this team would of went 10-2 or 11-1.

I think we'll go 10-2 without him. I think we'd be sitting at 8-0 if we had him. I also think it would be interesting to have him on the sidelines if we make it to a BCS game.

I don't think Kelly would put him on the sidelines. I think it would be too much of a distraction.

Honestly, the only reason to do it (other than the additional practice he would get) would be that it would ensure he wouldn't transfer to another school after the bowl game.

Color me dumb here, but how does that ensure he does not transfer if he is on the sidelines? It that against another rule or does that just 'ensure' that he doesnt transfer & have to sit out another years' worth of eligibility?

If they have 9 or more wins and are ranked in the top 14 or 15, so if they win out they will likely end up at a BCS bowl game.

It is kind of bogus that Michigan State and Arizona State are either ranked ahead of or ranked over Notre Dame when they both lost to the Irish.

I believe that if he is enrolled at the school, and has practiced with the team, he has to apply for a transfer under the normal transfer rules. This would require he sit out a year. That would leave him with only one year left to play. Versus the two he would have left at ND.

That was my understanding from reading the rules a while back. I could be mistaken, they're not the easiest thing to follow.

I just cant wait for next year. I think this offense will be a lot better and the D might even better. lets just hope this class coming in gets a couple more studs. We still don't have that Home Run pick up yet. every year we at least get that 1 kid. This year was J. Smith(by the way becoming a stud), last year was Gunner(Left already) and Day, the year after was Tuitt and the year after was Nix.

Imagine if we had a top 20 offense and defense in the same year.

I can understand ASU being in our vicinity in the polls but not MSU. ASU beat two ranked opponents (one formerly ranked). ASU played ND tough and their other loss was to Stanford. MSU, on the other hand, has had a weak ass schedule. ND is by far the best team they have played and they lost. After ND the only other decent team they played was 42nd ranked Iowa. The other wins they have were against teams with losing records or FCS.

MSU can actually run the table, and play Ohio State in the Big Ten Championship Game. They could end up as the Big Ten Champ. That would probably be good for ND. In any event, MSU plays Michigan this week, so one of them will probably drop below us.

I would tend to agree with you, but wouldn't it be fun to watch Michigan lose two in a row to OSU in consecutive games.
