Im surprised seeing you study head shots pix. It's Ok to raise your arms and go into the crease raise your arms and target a guy's head?

I guess the Sabres were suppose to say "Oh well shit happens"

How does raising his arms target Miller's head? There are some basic physics being ignored by the anti-Tootoo crowd...

If you want to deliver a shot to the head, you keep your arm tucked and lower your shoulder/body or extend your elbow straight out to drive up and deliver power. This pushes the force of the legs up through the body and delivers it through the upper body to the opponent. Tootoo's arms were up over his head, just like a person's natural reaction is when they are trying to avoid an object or person. Go ahead, walk over to a door frame in your room with your and avoid it at the last minute - your arms will naturally go out and up to maintain balance. I understand that Tootoo doesn't get the benefit of the doubt because of his past, but what about his actions/body language indicate a "head shot" on Miller? Flailing arms over your own head are a bad way to finish a head shot.

Players get hit with a high stick all the time on accident, yet they still get a penalty for it. That's just the way the cookie crumbles.

Maybe Miller should have bled and then the beloved Shanaban would deal with it differently.

The point I was trying to make with that, is that even though a high stick may be an accident at times, the player is still responsible for his stick, and has to deal with the penalty regardless of how it happened.

If a player is trying to score by going hard to the net, he has to take responsibility for his actions even if it's an accident. A player knows the rules, and they need to adjust their game accordingly or face the consequences.

How many times has a player received a suspension on a hit that was an "accident?" Doesn't change the fact they are still responsible for their actions whether some people agree with it or not.

Tootoo has a reputation, so it makes it that much harder to believe he is not crying wolf.

You could say his intention was to dive into Miller and try to lead with his elbow into Miller's head instead of pulling an E Honda on him?

Maybe the hard turn he pulled towards the net threw his trajectory off and diving was the best way to make sure he ran into Miller?

I want to see Dark run some calculations on this and present detailed graphs before I make up my mind on anything.

As a Red Wings fan, who fucking HAAAATES Tootoo, I don't see him as an "intent to injure" guy. Intent to hurt, intent to cross the line, run your goalie, throw a late hit, sucker punch a guy if he THINKS he might be coming after him, yap all game long at the players and the refs, look like fucking Gollum, tripping, slashing, inspire the most annoying whistle in hockey, be an all-round little bitch guy, yes... but over the last few years he's cleaned up his act a bit and doesn't go out there trying to injure guys anymore.

IMO.

PS: He's also a punk bitch.

True he will bat his big brown eyes at Shanny and say " I didn't mean to do it" and everyone will be happy, Its too bad not too many people have the balls to disagree.

Until it happens to a player on their fav team.

I refuse to take the bait on this :ss: post. :nono:

Lol, it was a nice lure.

BUT, someone was telling me he told CBC in an interview that he did not have a concussion, or that concussion was never confirmed. Again, thats a "somebody told me" so I have no evidence. Not sure how trustworthy this person is.

From what I understand, he was looked at after the 2nd period by doctors from Boston, and they stated he had concussion like symptoms and whiplash.

I have heard that it is pretty hard to actually fake a concussion on a Doctor who is trained on what to look for.

Until it happens to a player on their fav team.

That's what it means to be a fan Boss.

If it happens to someone on your team, you're pissed about it.

If it happens to someone not on your team, then they are whining pussies, or it was an "accident."

Just like how you can hate a player not on your team, yet suddenly defend and love them once they get signed by your team.

If Crosby took a high hit to the head one day after returning to play all hell would break lose.

Be careful what you ask for it just might happen.

No not at all but you can bet your ass it would be on every sports sites ever started. I am just saying If he was hit like that it would be all over the place and I can't believe you would even deny it. In this case it was only Miller that got hammered in his crease by a player that has a history of questionable plays.

My point is the fucking rules are bent and it would take a damn fool esp seeing the NHL has said it themselves. "Oh he has no history of play like that" , " He has never been suspended before". Crosby punched a locked up guy in the balls and he has never been suspended either. If that is Kaleta do you think he gets off scott free?....Get real.

Just FYI... the NHL is reviewing the hit, but Shanny was traveling today. I'm guessing there will be a decision announced tomorrow.

If it was someone with no history I might be willing to consider that viewpoint, but knowing Tootoo I think it's pretty obvious he had every intent to do as much damage as possible. I don't see how he possibly could have avoided Miller by jumping there was absolutely nowhere to go. Although things in the NHL discipline office have gotten better under Shanahan there's still some ambiguity in suspension lengths. However, I'd like to see Tootoo get at least 5 games for that. He knew exactly what he was doing.

Glad to see Miller wasn't hurt on that play.

pretty much agree with this though i think 5 games is a little too harsh even for a piece of shit like tootoo in this instance

I think he got an excessive penalty because of who he is, and who he hit. 2 minutes would have been enough.

These are pretty much my thoughts. If this was Datsyuk, Stamkos, either Sedin, Iginla etc. we wouldn't even be having this conversation. The Sabres would have been happy with their 2 minute power play and that Miller didn't get hurt and that would be the end of it. I don't think there was any malicious intent there and that collision didn't look like a lot of fun for Tootoo either. I'll have to watch it again closely but it appeared to me that his feet didn't leave the ice until after contact was made. But since pretty much everyone on both sides is saying that he jumped, I suppose that's probably what happened. That being said, I can't fault Miller or the Sabres for how they reacted either, especially since this happens in his 1st game back. I'm not a huge fan of threatening the other goalie however.
