What I got from the "it's about family" thing was he didn't want to raise his kid in Canada.
Columbus is "Canada Lite" according to a lot of Canadians I know that live here.

Get outside the city by an hour and it gets Kentucky fast.
Wait I just looked at CBJ's capfriendly. WTF are these guys doing? Are the guys on IR (Jenner Texier & Tarasov) gonna stay there?
Jenner is likely LTIRetired, Tarasov will go to the AHL when he's back.

Also talk of them moving Nyquist
How do taxes in Ohio compare to NJ and Pennsylvania?
Others covered taxes, but I will also mention cost of living. Prices are rising but a mil here will buy a house at least 4 times larger than a mil will buy one in Jersey or Philly. Plus there is land left to build.
Former Calgary mayor weighs in....

I am surprised that a former Mayor wouldn't say "Fuck it, this city sucks. I don't blame him" :)

I still can't believe it happened. I was on the ice tonight running a summer skate and there was a cheer from the parents in the stands. Nearly peed myself when I came off the ice and checked my phone.

This guy really hates the Devils lol. It was basically Flyers or [insertwillingUSnon-NYCteamhere]. Gotta respect that.

I guess it depends who you believe regarding the AAV. But if $10+ is true...

If he truly was the Devils target and they couldn't land him Fitz needs to go. Between this and nobody returning his calls at the deadline. I'm not sure if the franchise negotiated in bad faith at some point or ownership isn't liked in some circles, I truly don't get it.

"He told us this was one of his true primary destinations," Kekalainen said Wednesday evening. "We were like, 'OK, wow, is this real?' Once we realized that yeah, he wants to come here, we got into serious talks. We obviously let him know that he was one of the players that we desired the most, and when it got real serious to where he was like, 'OK, I want to come there,' then we got it through the finish line pretty quickly."

Even Jarmo wasn't expecting this.

From an income tax perspective for his income bracket the highest is NJ and the lowest is PA.
when you are leaving $10Mill plus on the table, not sure marginal tax rate at your destination is a primary concern

anyway, time for an old fashioned JT bidding war between NJ, NYI, NYR and Philly.

It was an exciting free agency opening day that started with people asking GMs “What the fuck is going on here?” And ended with people asking Johnny Gauedreuau “What the fuck is going on here?”

Im excited to see Brian McClellan’s new ironic hockey team on ice - a team that screams “we’re just here to watch OV break the record.”

Radulov officially went back to the KHL again.

Not surprised his NHL career was essentially over.

I'll remember him most for separating Jason Arnott's shoulder during a playoff goal celebration.

This is a garbage tweet from a former sports guy (now a morning tv host).

Where is there an NHL team that isn't hockey mad with high expectations?

Just Arizona.

Interesting tidbit about Caggiula. He never has played a game of minor league hockey came straight from college into the NHL.
Yeah I know that is not weird for star players but for a 4th liner/roster filler to never be sent down, even for a conditioning assignment is amazing.

Despite playing for four different teams in six seasons, and recording just 91 points in 278 games, he has never suited up for a single minor league match.
