Friedge said the other day he knows two things about PLD - that he wants to test free agency in 2 years so won’t sign long term (at least in Winnipeg) and he really does want to play for the Habs. Rangers might see a window here and figure it’s worth it even for the two years of RFA left.

PLD doesn't have any NMC, so trade his ass to Philly. Or let him rot in Arizona for 2 years.

I want to like the kid. He's a good hockey player, and I think it just was a bad fit here personally and professionally. But he's is not good enough to be pulling this shit twice before his UFA years.

FWIW it doesn't seem like he's pulling anything here, he has a right to not sign long-term and explore UFA. Sounds like he's perfectly fine re-signing in Winnipeg for his remaining RFA time but Winnipeg isn't sure whether to keep him or cash in.

Gives them 19 & 24. Nice capital to trade down for some more magic beans. Also have 2 second rounders.

If they do end up trading Brodin or Spurgeon chances are they can nab one more 1st rounder. Best thing for them if they can't add more salary for shit would be as many magic beans as possible, load up on some for next summer's draft, try and keep things going from within so that when the cap does creep up they'll be well set to take advantage.

1) 99% nobody is being offersheeted, but

2) None of these guys even seem worth it? Necas is coming off a pretty shitty season considering he had fewer points than the season before while playing 25 more games, Dallas isn't letting Oettinger leave IDC if they haven't spoken much they aren't insane, teams don't offer sheet players just to fuck with opponents' cap situation (if they did Point and Marner would be making $15 mil each lol) so offer sheeting Sandin for anything more than what Liljegren got isn't happening and the Leafs will match, if you offer sheet an Islander Lou will literally fucking shoot you so good luck with Dobson, and none of the other names are really worth more than you can get by just trading with someone.

I think a year or 2 ago was it? the all time RFA class and the best we got was a half hearted Aho offersheet. If it didn't happen then it's not happening.
