New year, new season time for a 2025 thread. OC is the next big decision for Seahawks. Just saw this:

Now Slowik offense had major issues this last season and took a big step backwards in 2024. Mostly it seems centered around shoddy OL play. The 2023 version of the offense was very good. How would you guys feel about him being Seahawks OC? Running the ball was not his issue, as the Texans feed Mixon plenty.

Any chance they are waiting to see what mccarthy does? I think he would be a home run OC hire

Guess the list is getting trimmed down. That's OK it would of been complicated naming him OC then having to have someone else call plays. There isn't any no brainer to hire as OC they all have flaws of some sort. Heck even HC candidates this year have some dubious candidates. The suspense continues, obviously there wasn't any plan in place when Macdonald fired Grubb. Wonder how much longer the search continues.

Yeah and he feels Geno's a damn fine QB also. I'd find it depressing to have this washed up , over the hill coach signed as the OC. This sort of thing was what I was worried about if they dumped Grubb. Wonder how @Sharkonabicycle feels about the candidates?

He is a plug and play OC with a long history of success, id take that over a guy who has never called plays.

Geno isn't going anywhere IMO, he'll stay with Seattle.

That said, I can't stand the guy but Gruden could be a possibility, and so could Pederson. Simply for a paycheck... they'll be paid very well by Allen... and I don't think anyone is looking to hire either as a head coach... And both know how to call an offense.

I guess it really depends what Mac can handle... that's a lot of personality lol.

So your rooting for the worse hire to help that along?
you dont think having a superbowl winning coach calling the offense would have benefits? its not like the cowboys were terrible with him as head coach they actually had some statistically very good offenses with a very mediocre QB.

let him have the reigns and see what happens.
or sure give it to some one wo has never called plays in the NFL, have we tried that before?

no way gruden takes an OC spot, i believe there are still legal issues between him and the league preventing him from taking a job anyways.

The guy is 61 and it's been 20 years since he was a OC. Last OC position the team (49ers) he was coaching was 30th in points scored and dead last in yards. Back with the Packers I remember this:

If the Seahawks were to hire him I'd hope for the best, but doesn't seem likely he'd be motivated to be a OC or be inspired to work hard at it. I'm probably biased against him since his time with the 49ers/Packers years had me rooting against him

he was calling the plays in dallas, wasnt he? he was fully in control of the offense when they went 12-5 three consecutive years and had top 5 offenses with dak effing prescott at qb? im not a fan of geno, but ill take him over prescott.
give mccarthy control of the offense which arguably has better skill players than dallas and see what he can do.
honestly what is there to lose here? if this team doesnt succeed next year its probably getting blown up anyways.
knowing that, why would a young, ambitious coach want to OC here? schneider may have backed himself into a corner with very few legit options.

Think the Seahawks are in a fork where they could end up being worse or could become a playoff team. Something like signing Trey Smith could solidify the OL, they got some good skill players. Kind of situation that could appeal to a young coach who just needs the opportunity to show what he can do. I got confidence Macdonald will have the defense improving by a good bit next season. Blowing up the team and starting over has NO APPEAL for me. Doubt it has any appeal to Jody either. Doubt the bulk of Seahawks fan want that to happen. I want a hire that gives me hope.

Dak Effin Prescott? LMAO you do know that Dak is "better" than Geno yet you talk like he is trash.

He throws less INT's Less Redzone INT's Lower INT % Higher TD % and is rated higher. See this is the thing for SOME REASON people are OBLIVIOUS to Geno's stats and how bad he really is. Dak is a fine QB and is better than Geno when talking about "SCORING!" and "PROTECTING" the ball. A Healthy Dak ( Yeah thats a joke ) would have got the Hawks into the Playoffs. Dak's only issue is being Healthy so it's more like No Dak vs Geno.

Dak is also making absurd money.
