I watched some of Toias games. He does a good job of being physical even when doubled. I see something there. He probably won't get sacks, but they don't need him to. They will have a pass rush. Toia will get an opportunity and I hope he takes advantage
Yeah, he won't get sacks, but he isn't getting rooted out by many guys in single blocks. If he can simply draw double teams he would be a huge upgrade on run downs

I liked the comment where they called him a "340 lbs sidewalk cracker" :pound:
With his frame, if he makes the team and earns PT the man will take up some space. I am equally interested in the other 7th round DT even though no one talks about him. A little more of a penetrating type. Not sure if the plan is NT or 3T or combo. Everything I read about him talked about his movement. Seems like he may fit the Eberflus system a little

Akingbesote is a 3T all the way. I think it's between him and Rogers for the 5th DT spot. We won't go 6 deep. Heck, we may not carry 5, they could go heavy at end where we are pretty loaded

I like the fact some of these guys are getting some kind of guarantees. Makes it worth while for them even if they end up just being camp fodder. & doesnt affect our cap either.
I like this.
you just have to be happy with a guy when their dreams come true

It does impact our cap if they are cut because the dead money hits the cap, but it’s peanuts, so like you said it really doesn’t

my understanding (could be wrong) is only the top 51 (used to think 53) contracts affect the cap. None of these guys would make the top 51 contracts. So in theory. Wouldnt affect the cap.
Now I am sure if they make the team they will get a different contract to at least league min. which would affect the cap, but that like you say is peanuts & they did make the team at that point

Correct if they make the team the salaries won’t likely hit the cap, but if they are cut, the signing bonus and the guaranteed money becomes dead money and that dead money counts against the cap

I felt McMillan was possibly worthy of being taken at 12. The others no. Easily one of the weakest drafts for WR in a long time. I don't want to draft a #2 WR that high. And if they were going to address either OL or DL it had to be in round one.
I'm glad McMillan wasn't available.

I agree. I was not 100% thinking he was worth taking at 12. The draft went the way I was hoping. I wanted Booker and Revel.

TBH I did not really have the 2nd rounder on my radar. I was thinking RB. That 2nd rounder probably should have gone in round one. I think he is going to cause havoc because he looks pro ready as far as pass rushing goes. He has a lot of moves and I could see him as a double digit sack guy. I am very happy about the draft.

I don't necessarily need sacks from the tackle position, I need them to stop the run, and at least get the QB off his spot.

Exactly, NT has to eat up blocks. Now, in the Eberflus offense, Osa has to get pressures, but he does that well, and if JT (or Mazi) can do a better job or drawing doubles than we got last year from NT, he will be even better

I am just saying.
If everyone else gets to be greedy when it comes to skill positions like WR, I can ask greedily for one of each type of DT!!! :becky:

They need to add another DT. JT is the type of player I want at NT. I will say that much
I think Mazi got some bad instruction early on. He was a 339 pound power player. He was slow getting off the ball, and in an effort to get quicker, he came in at like 298, and lost his superpower. He was still a little slow, but now he was weak as well. The best thing he could do, IMO, is get back to 330-335 and at least shut down the run
