Yes, a head scratcher.
Best of luck to him.
I see this as a major mistake for Wolf/Vrabel.

We give a Milton and a 7th round pick for a 5th this year. Yeah fuck that, a 4th maybeIt's for their compensatory pick. Basically a 6th round pick and they gave up a 7th? Something doesn't seem right. There has got to be something else going on?
He was a serviceable back up. With upside. I was hoping a 3rd from a desperate QB needy team if not this year then in next year's draft. At a minimum an early 4th.There was a reason he wasn’t drafted until the 6th freaking round! Do you think all of the teams are idiots? He wasn’t very good. He had a solid game against the Bills(which cost us dearly in the draft). But as we all know, the Bills were throwing it away and just laughed at us for winning and blowing that #1 pick. Yes.. Milton is a physical marvel. But he just isn’t very good.
Who was the genius saying we could get one of the first 3 picks in round 1?????? I was even dumb saying a 3rd but probably a 4th. The front office isn’t stupid. They know what they had with Milton. Now he can sit on the bench Cowboys bench and do backflips.
I'm trying to find an article that I read yesterday where he said he'd like to be traded where he has a chance to play.Maybe he was becoming a problem?
This is fucked up!![]()
Sources: Patriots trade QB Milton to Cowboys
The Patriots are trading quarterback Joe Milton III to the Cowboys, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter on Thursday.www.espn.com
Really? Why NE?
Maybe there is another draft day deal they have in the works otherwise thus makes no sense.
I don't know what to think but I do know he was worth more than we got!Stunned. Absolutely trash deal. Nobody I know saw this coming. This is a change your underwear trade.
Only one person who I've talked with has said something that ""might"" make sense. >>Dallas will give up #44 in the second round for #69 (3rd) and #106 (4th)<<
It still doesn't make much sense to me. Milton, I agree with Reb, was worth at least a fourth round pick.
He wasn't worth a 1st or 2nd without more proof of his ability, but he was worth more than what they got. There was a reason he wasn’t drafted until the 6th freaking round! Hmm...which comment soured the fastest today?Another click bait article. Ooh, Josh Dobbs was brought in!! Teams keep three QB's all the time. Furthermore, Dobbs resume shows he's not starting caliber if Maye goes down. If they did trade Milton, they would then be in the backup QB market again.
It would need to be a high pick to cover the replacement value.
I don't know I think that may be reading more into it than is there. I am sure the two conversed, but I don't think it was a bigger dick conversation. We don't need any more of that on this board at the moment.Curve ball??????
Just a thought...............nothing more.
Could this be a Mike Vrabel message to the entire front office and team?
I took this job with the owner's approval that I would have final say in all personnel moves. Here's my message to everyone:
If you are not #1 in your position then your job and place here are not safe. I will be cleaning out the closet and anyone I did not hire may not have a job after the 2025 Draft. It starts today with Joe Milton III. He is the #3 QB and I decided to trade him for the best offer I've had so far.
By the way.....................Eliot Wolfe reports to me.
NOT SAYING THIS IS FACT !!!!!!
Kinda reminds me of Parcells and Belichick.
I really doubt Vrabel's idea of showing dominance is by make an under value deal., That's like killing yourself to show that you will be the one who decides when you will die.I don't know I think that may be reading more into it than is there. I am sure the two conversed, but I don't think it was a bigger dick conversation. We don't need any more of that on this board at the moment.
I do think the Pats would have been better served to wait until draft day. Then if a team was desperate for a QB the deal might have been a little sweeter maybe a 4th I could not see a 3rd.
I don't think it was as straight out as I made it to be.I don't know I think that may be reading more into it than is there. I am sure the two conversed, but I don't think it was a bigger dick conversation. We don't need any more of that on this board at the moment.
Again I think you are reading way to much into thisI don't think it was as straight out as I made it to be.
First, there have been rumors that teams have been calling about Milton's availability.
Second, I don't believe for am second that the Patriots called the Cowboys
Third. And this where the curve ball comes in. Vrabel is listening and Wolfe, like his father, is shaking his head 'no' vehemently. The longer Vrabel listens the more animated Wolfe gets. It's almost a revision of the days when the Packers were drafting QB after QB. They'd keep them for two or three years and then trade them for an excellent draft spot or a player that was needed.
Vrabel got a bit miffed and pulled the trigger. It was a warning to Wolfe. Problem is that he didn't get what most of what the rest of the Patriots world feels was the right return for a young QB. Then again, there were more than a few people on here that didn't feel that Milton had shown very much. I think that a Compensatory 5th was very low especially for a QB and a 7th.
