If they can solve more pressing issues through FA, I'd have no problem pulling the trigger on Warren.
No! They still have to perform and produce on the field, that's where talent scouting begins and ends.So I have seen people like Luther Burden and Isaiah Bond getting a lot of love but I have not seen much of them this season.
Is it possible that NIL and the transfer portal is ruining college football and making it 8mpossible to scout the talent?

OTOH...
Scouting the individual isn't diminished because of NIL monies. Instead, it is, in fact, essential to learning about how sudden wealth or significant money affects these young men. (Character issues)
I'd argue that, NIL monies are better for eventual NFL players because the suddenness of NFL wealth is abated and because they are accustomed to having it, are less likely to be influenced by it in their first year. Ultimately, because it's not new, they can be more focused on the work of being a professional.
My mistake in thinking that there are people who support and defend free market enterprises. Coaches can go from team to team and have been allowed to do that since forever. Where's the loyalty in that? These young men are THE product and the market tells us what they are worth, does it really matter where they maximize their value? Btw; If a 17 y/o can fight and die for the country, then we must uphold his right as an adult to continue deciding to go from good QBs to trash ones too. (SN: I was never in favor of 17 y/o's joining or being drafted into the military)In all, I disagree. Players can literally transfer every season and not have to sit out now. That is horrible for college football. WRs are particularly affected because they may go from a good QB to a trash one and loyalty will no longer exist on the collegiate level. I was fine with paying the players but what has happened in such a short time is bad for the game.

In all honesty, what has historically been bad for the game has been this notion of amateurism at the collegiate level. For gerations they've had professional ( non NFL types in most cases) coaches... coaching them, the facilities are, in most top level cases on par with NFL facilities. Training staffs, dietitians, medical/Healthcare more accessible than the average American, tutors, academic scheduling, travel accommodations, etc, almost all top level. Sorry, but college football is going to be just fine going forward. Their game just needs time to settle into the inclusion of athletes on the profit and open mobility aspects of it. Who knows, someday, there could be two major conferences with north, south, east and west divisions in them, where division winners and a wild card team qualified for the post season!
Naw, I just made that up, something like that could never happen in this country, right??![]()

I am for free market principles. The consumer is the key to every business in a free market system. The product on the field in college football is not nearly as good with players transferring annually.
With NIL, and the transfer portal, it is going to make ten teams worth watching annually. So the product on the whole will be ass.

Well, there's a ringing endorsement against it, but that's not what we're talking about. What's the legal or any other mechanism to stop them from doing that if they decide to? The kids are merely exercising their right to move if they aren't happy

Perhaps generating more high-end athletes would be the answer to your concerns but that too is an American problem because fewer and fewer people want to live in worse conditions than others in the country since this is where a majority of these players come from. They want their children educated and integral parts of mainstream America who pay for their entertainment rather than be participants in it. The game is changing because people don't have the stomach to watch the brutality of it, rules constantly change to make it safer, more tolerable, and sooner rather than later, unwatchable! Perhaps this is why it's not as good.

For those, like myself, still among us who loved great defensive football, the product on the field is already ass, college or pro. Regional games aren't regional anymore to the extent that they once were. Maryland where I live once played in the ACC and is now in the Big10, those regional games are few and far between. This can be said of a lot of teams taking advantage of conference relocation now, so watching games will change too! Give it time, my friend, and watch as some of the once-weaker teams get better in the new alignment, and if you must insist upon more pure forms of the game, there are the Ivy League, HBCUs, MAC, Mountain West, AAC, ETC., and to a lesser extent, a changing PAC12, ACC, Sun Belt, etc.
