I'm also not sure that it was Payton's choice to wait. My guess is if he was still with Loomis they could have moved up just to make sure they get their guy. Paton I think does a good job balancing out Payton when it comes to aggressive thinking and it possibly costing the team.

I have always said I think the combo of Payton/Paton is what makes our draft so dangerous. It's not just one of them. They both do things well and putting them together is a deadly duo in the war room.

I would agree. Payton and Loomis had gotten too crazy over time and we saw even after Payton left Loomis went crazy that very next draft with some crazy trades. So having someone with a conservative background like Paton coming from the Vikings is huge. Plus they both have shown they really do have an eye for talent.

Agree, you need someone to sorta mix with Payton to keep him at bay a little bit when it comes to the draft.

When people were wanting George Paton's head on the chopping block after the Russell Wilson trade it bothered the bajeezus out of me. NO WAY! We finally found a GM that can draft. No better feeling as a draft dork like us.

I would agree. I think Paton was getting unfairly judged (I was a part of that). Tough to know what players can actually be in the NFL when you have bad coaching and no QB of any worth. At that point they could be a star and still not get noticed. Heck Surtain last year people looked at it and were questioning how good he really is. Now he gets some great players around him and has a chance to shine all the way to DPOY.

Honestly the trade for Wilson I don't blame him a whole lot. Ownership wanted to make a splash so not sure that decision was really much his. The one I blame him for the most was the hiring of Hackett. He played a huge role in that decision and obviously that blew up spectacularly. But hey it led us to Payton.

for some reason i equate denver’s RB situation to dallas and Zeke

zeke coming out this would have been worth trading up for but did he end up being the difference in dallas?

i would say jump up a slot or two for a RB otherwise trading up in the 2nd for a RB makes more sense to me.

Paton has traded up in the 2nd almost every year he’s been here.

Hackett was not a good moment for him but he also swallowed his pride and erased that issue quickly. I give him a lot of credit for that. You are never going to have a perfect GM. GM's are going to make bad decisions. Just like anyone in life it is how you learn and recover from your mistakes. He had a great recovery. If anything I think that is a moment Paton could use a positive for his own endorsement. He did a great job recognizing that and moving quickly. Ownership wanted to get the Wilson deal done without him even playing a down in Denver. I get it, not like Russ was a 4th year QB.

Guilty here I was way wrong thought this combo wouldn't work. This is why I prefer us moving back vs moving up because our drafting is so much better. Saying this I 100% expect a move up in the 2nd for a RB.

I don't think this is the back that Payton is going after but he had a great year and is a TD machine.

i feel the opposite
i could see him as a denver bronco
all depends on how they evaluate his lower body makeup

I think the lack of a pass blocking will prevent Payton from wanting him. That is a huge deal to him and he isn't gonna linger around.

The NFL passed a rule if he plays opponents have to say Rock Paper Scissors Lizard Spock before engagement on passing downs

after watching that

TreVeyon Henderson will be a Bronco . He is what Payton wants as the joker RB.
