Depending on who is there, I would take Walker in the 2nd and for sure the 3rd. He played the season with a fracture in his back, and they played his twice as many snaps as the Cowboys played Mazi, and the dude is 360. The knock on him about being lazy and taking plays off...take that kid, let him have a pro weight room for a year and play him 25-30 snaps instead of 60 and watch him annihilate anyone who tries and play him one on one
i can imagine our dt's being Osa Odighizuwa, Solomon Thomas, Deone Walker & maybe Ty Hamilton (5th round)

Man this is one year I would consider taking a page out of the Eagles playbook and double up early at our weakest spot if it falls right. I promise you, I wouldn't be afraid to take Kenneth Grant in round 1 and Deone Walker in round 3 and have 2 monsters on the roster. If Mazi wants to turn into a monster instead of a blah, power to him and better for us

we would have to trade up to get Grant which is why i would rather trade down and why i went with Walker and Hamilton added to Odighizuwa and Thomas.

i would also consider with the extra picks we would get from trading down adding couple of Edge rushers to back Micah

We would have to trade up for Mason Graham. We wouldn't have to trade up for Kenneth Grant.
I like your idea too, would like it more if we still had a 4th. I think those 5ths you mentioned as well as the two nose tackles PDay mentioned will start flying off the board at the start of day 3

where are you seeing this? i'm looking at several mock drafts and he's around the mid-3rd round in all of them pick 70-80
might of been PFF had him falling @ 102.

Graham, Nolan, Grant, Harmon, Williams, Collins, Alexander, Farmer, Sanders, Scourton, Norman-Lott.

This is 11 DT 's I'd take before Walker. How many DT's you think get drafted in the first 100 players?

Maybe he can be motivated.
He played hurt all year. I think we a smaller workload and good health, he has more potential than anyone but Graham. I'll say this, I saw reps this year when he absolutely ragdolled all SEC/All American offensive linemen

I think six or seven go before 100. I could see Walker dropping .. there are red flags, but he played lots of snaps for a player that size. This could have caused him to be tired. I like Walkers potential

I like Grant,Nolen and Harmon quite a bit.. there are just not a lot of blue chip talents In this draft. I don't see a lot of future All Pros at DT in this draft. Harmon is a guy though that really intrigues me. I could see him doing something.

When I look at this draft I see a lot of really good running backs. I see a few good but not great receivers and a few nice edge rushers.. I like Pearce and Green. A bunch.. I also see players like Warren and Loveland as two players that would really help Dak... If Warren fell to twelve I would piss people off and draft him. Loveland. Would also be a an upgrade at TE.

You reach for need in round one in this draft it going to end badly.

There is no chance Walker isn't a 1st round talent. But, with his injury, I don't know what to do with him at this point and I suspect NFL teams will kind of feel the same way. This is a pick for the doctors I guess because if you watch him from 2023 you have no doubt about his talent. This also explains the inconsistency and the taking plays off knock. I see little chance of him getting out of the 3rd round unless the medical prognosis going forward is really bad. I also see little chance of him going in the 1st round. Again, I just don't know what to do with him.

For those who are unaware of his story:

right now...corner and wide receiver are early pressing needs. Not deep position groups in this draft.
Barron,Johnson,Egbuka,Golden all could be there. I like all four. That could be a tough decision. They trade for Elam. Does this eliminate Barron and Johnson? Then they choose between Egbuka and Golden? Paris Campbell I don't know about. His stats were not good,it like WTF are they doing?

Egbuka seems to look like a Shotty type of guy. Egbuka looks like plug and play to me. Is he worthy of being taken at 12? IDK . Are any of the four worthy of being taken at 12? IDK

I love hearing more and more chatter about this team needing to add talent to its DT room and especially at the 1 tech where we are weak. Hopefully ol' rabbit ears Jerry is listening. I would love one of the first two listed in this article, but I think the Ohio State kid may go sooner than people think and could be gone by pick #44 and I'm not sure the Texas kid would be the best available at that point of the draft. The second two listed aren't day 2 talents IMO and with us not having a 4th rounder I don't know if either lasts until the 5th? But, man would I really love Tyleik Williams. This team is just not tough enough. We need a big strong presence and need to start being tougher on both sides of the ball. He would be a nice start

100%. It all comes down to medicals. If your Dr's look at this kid and really believe he will be fine, you have a chance to get a kid just as physically dominant as a Chris Jones or Jalen Carter. I've seen this kid absolutely ragdoll SEC Linemen and blow through double teams like they weren't even there. Not only was this kid hurt, they were playing him 60 freaking snaps because UK had no one else remotely close to the kid talent wise. 2 time captain, 3 time all SEC, 21 years old

Not here to just bash Mazi, just something I saw the other day that backs up how much we need to upgrade at NT.
If you take the list of DT's in the NFL that are double teamed the most, they are either superstar 3T's, but mostly big NT's. NT's are right there over the center, whereas 3T's are outside the guards shoulder. You have to move the NT. For the Cowboys though, Osa was double teamed more than twice as many times as Mazi, who was at the bottom of the list for doubles drawn. Osa just might earn his big contract with more single blocks

I still can't get past hoping this team doesn't do something dumb like try to pick guys with week 1 of next year in mind and force their needs. It's a multi-year plan or it's a failure before it's started. There is no 2025 Super Bowl. The goal should be building a Super Bowl winner not trying to reverse the much deserved criticism from a disastrous 2024.

I really doubt either guy is there which makes this nothing more than an exercise for presentation purposes, but I would love something like Membou (or best OL) at 12 and then Tyleik Williams at 44). Talk about changing the makeup of this team and making us more physical in a heart beat. The beauty of Membou is he would be our best OT day 1 or he could start at OG while we figure out the other two if Guyton finds himself all of a sudden. The push from Tyler, Beebe and Membou in the middle or from Center to LT for a team that wants to run the ball? Not to mention that the Eagles and Giants have 2 of the best DTs and who both happen to have elite strength speed combos if he starts at OG. Then Williams would change our entire defensive makeup as a dominant 1 tech who is both stout and disruptive. Start him on early downs alongside a rotation of Osa and Mazi and then some snaps on later downs to get a little bull rush once in a while with Osa and a rotation of a bunch of guys. More players and better players at DT in a rotation to keep guys fresh and performing will go a long way and especially when you have Micah coming from the outside and the speed that we do at LBer, but without the strength to consistently hold up against and shed OL at the 2nd level.

You make a good point about this needing to being a multi year plan. Jerry keeps thinking the team is ready to contend, but that is not the case.

Membou is very near to the top of my list of best players in this draft. If he fell to 12 then it would be a very safe pick. I got a short list of players I don't think will bust and he is on it. I hope the 11 teams in front of Dallas think he should be a guard because he is not 6 feet 5 or taller. Lol
