Yeah I get that. No, not for this team the way its put together. They have chosen to ignore FA and patch holes with picks which leads to the current, predictable decline in record. But if they were spending money in FA like other good teams and could line up and play football before the draft. It wouldn't be the end of the world to double up anywhere. If Dowdle didn't come back and you went from no backs to, say, Ashton Jeanty and Treyvon Henderson, you would essentially have the same thing the Lions have in Gibbs and Montgomery overnight. That wouldn't suck. But for this defective team, no. We will probably go the route of replacing Brandin Cook with Luther Burden in round 1. replacing Osa with a 2nd round DT, replacing JLewis with a 3rd round corner, and Dowdle with a 5th round back and fill the rest of the roster with practice squad guys and scream all in
Burden is tempting. I think it will be hard to screw up this pick whatever route they go. It is still early. After the combine, we get alot more information on players.

I think the best way things fall for us(if we go need, which we will) is if we got say Jeanty in the 1st, one of the big DT's in the 2nd, and a WR in the 3rd. If we go WR in round 1, I still go DT in round 2 because they will be gone by the 3rd. That leaves you hoping for RB in the 3rd. Im telling you, giving away that high 4th is going to really haunt us.

As long as it not the Michigan DT. I am staying away from them right now.

Some of them (not all) watch hours and hours of tape on the top players. The casual fan just watches the games and not even all of them. But, it is of course still subjective and to some extent a crap shoot. I just think Brugler knows his stuff and a lot more than any of us on here
Brugler is almost as good as The Goose Rick Gosselin used to be with his draft coverage

I won't miss McCarthy. Did not like his play calling and clock mis-management. The OL was better at run blocking than pass blocking. He had his QBs throwing the ball too much and it led to some losses.
