I think I'd like to see two drafted RB's by the end of the 5th round. Even if we took the local rb in round one. Parcels is right, there is a bulls eye on RB's shirt. Rico plus two young drafted backs is where this team should be starting the season.

If I had the number one pick in this draft, the Jeanty kid from Boise is without a doubt who I would take for the Cowboys. He might only give you 5-6 good years, but he would be a game changer for the offense and help maximize Dak's remaining 5 years. There are some other good backs if we miss on Jeanty, I think Hampton kid from N.C. and Johnson from Iowa are both bell cow's.
Side note, its early on, and I don't know that he is the right pick for us, but I think TE Tyler Warren from Penn State might be my favorite player to watch in the whole damn draft. That kid is a great talent, plays hard, and has a nasty mean streak to boot. I think he will be George Kittle all over again for somebody

maybe runningbacks do matter after all.
Jeanty was a stud in HS. Yes please.

I gotta say, I watched this guy play Arizona a couple of weeks ago, and again against Iowa State last Saturday. I love everything I've seen from Cam Skattebo for a day 3 pick. Love the attitude and approach he has to the RB position. Hope to see him play Texas in the next round.

you guys sold me on the RB, now my question is. Who is the beast DT out there?

As far as TEs. I am 100% against drafting TE in the 1st rd. No matter how great they are supposed to be. Hell I dont even like drafting one in the 2nd round. (maybe at the end, but still no)

I totally agree. If they get lucky they draft Jeanty and another one. I look at value and this is a good year to draft a RB. The talent in this draft is not great at several positions although there are some good linebackers. If they don't draft Jeanty then they got to get one in round two. They would be foolish to expect Dowdle to hold up given his injury history.

Would not hurt my feelings if Jeanty fell to them and then they added Hampton or Johnson in round two. I am seeing the value and we need to hit on these early picks. I see a lot of potential busts in this crop at OT and DT.

Jeanty,Jalon Walker,Kelvin Banks Jr are on my radar in round one. I think Banks could replace Guyton and Guyton could move to RT. Walker is going to be a real good player. Jeanty though would be the guy I take over these two.

The Michigan kid Graham is a Heck of a player but the good news is, DT is the deepest position on the board this year and there are a bunch of BIG guys, talking 6'4-6-5, 320-330. Lots of them. I definitely see us taking one in the first 3 rounds.

Side note...the Mingo trade was an all out, absolute disaster. We missed out on a good RB last year by giving up a 4th for Lance and this trade will cost us another starter

If....not likely at all. I draft Graham but he's top 5

We all watched Kittle destroy our defense this year. I would not mind giving Dak a weapon like Kittle . Cowboys are likely going to draft between 14 and 16 somewhere. We need a starter no matter who it is.

They lost against Oregon, but watch him in that game. Caught 7/84, blocked great, ready to fight everyone on the field. Gonna be a great Pro

well shoot...both backs made first team AP All American. I still hope to see Skattebo run against the Texas defense.

Skat is a football player. Last year he punted, played QB at times , caught passes. He does it all. Supposedly his coach told him in the offseason last yr that he wasnt NFL material unless he did certain things. He has done them. One was to become a better teammate. I was shocked to hear that. 0 stars coming out of high school where he rushed for 6,000 yards. He has paid his dues.

I've seen two games this year and liked everything about this guy.

Really liked what Dowdle has done over the past 3 games. Maybe he can be a legit #1. I am not against bringing him back if the price is right, especially if Jeanty is off the board. But they still do need to draft a RB in either round two or three.

Dowdle is another terribly handled player by Jerry.and Stephen. They should have rode this kid into the ground this year to see if he could carry the load required for a big deal. A few weeks ago, Dowdle could have probably been signed for a couple of million, now he will likely get $5-6M per. It's gonna be an interesting off-season. Osa will get $11M per, Golden $8-9M. Aubrey will want to be the highest paid kicker and Turpin will want a big raise. Jordan Lewis will get $8-9M. I see another purge coming, followed by using the draft to fill needs instead of taking the best talent on the board, which hasn't worked the last 2 years.

I am not sold on Dowdle as a future answer. He is the best option we have right now. That should not get confused with he is our answer to RB.
We didnt use him early in the season which makes him fresher than the players he is playing against right now.
I think if he were getting 20+ touches a game from the start of the season he wouldnt look the way he is looking right now or he would already be on IR.
Bringing him back as the back up. I would be fine with. But we need to address the RB position next year with someone not on our roster right now.

The jury is out for me. The next 3 weeks will decide it. If he can continue having good games against 3 playoff teams, that will mean more than vs the scrubs we have been playing. I agree he needs to be in a tandem. There are a lot at good backs in this year's draft, there is zero reason we shouldn't nab one in the first 3 rounds

Dowdle is not a star but he has been great lately and can be a good 1a IMO. I always thought he was a really good #2, now I'm seeing even a little more out of him and especially because it's with Rush at QB and a still developing OL in front of him. This team needs to be tougher on both sides of the ball so taking a RB in the first round wouldn't be my first choice. I guess if the kid is there where we now look to be picking I'd be pretty darn happy with him, but when it looked like we were more in the 5 to 7 range that wouldn't be a move I'd make. Our team structure is just all wrong but we can't go back in time and not give that ridiculous contract to Dak, so I'm not sure how to get out of it.

I feel pretty good that our OL is on the upswing and way better than many people have portrayed this year. I'm not sure there is a metric that puts us near the bottom of the league other than from disgruntled Cowboy fans who are never pleased with anything. But, I wouldn't mind another OL if the right guy was there because Martin is done and while Steele hasn't been horrible, he isn't living up to his contract value so could be a potential cap cut. Guyton has been horrible but I think he is better next year and if not maybe we luck out with all 3 of Beebe, Bass and Hoffman being able to play the 3 middle spots and moving Tyler to LT. Never stop trying to improve a position just because you tried the year before. Front 7 defender or safety is still tops on my list, but heck I've always been BPA so give me the best guy and fill the holes in free agency like any team with common sense would do...of yeah we don't have that...

That TE from Penn State could be there. He is VERY high on my list if Jeanty is off the board. I would not hesitate to draft him in the middle of the first round. The size and speed combo. The hands. The alpha mentality. This kid is going to be a problem for defenses no doubt about it
This guy is going to be a hell of a player. So yeah, you pointed this kid out to me and I think he is going to be a stud. I got him in my top 10 now
