Lottery ticket signing... Probably going to stay on the PS and never see the field.

Sometimes coming into a better situation & under a better staff will unlock talent, but this dude's film is god awful. Very telling that a top 10 pick hasn't even been signed to a PS after just 4 years in the league.

So what say you guys as to why Tomlin won't just announce JF as his QB1 moving forward? Why is he playing this game week to week with the media?

Is it to keep pressure on JF?

Is it because he truly doesn't trust JF? Evidence is there with the offensive playcalling.

Is it to boost RW trade value?

Is it just the same old smoke screen methods to keep opposing teams guessing?

Or is this all just Tomlin being Tomlin?

Lot of theories bein thrown around.

Anyone's guess is just as valid.

Russ was promised QB1, but he's been injured to start the season and his backup came in and rocked. But Russ is also well-proven by now and Justin is a reclamation project. So none of this meets the initial plan the Steelers had for the season.

If they give him QB1 designation and then Justin stumbles and gets demoted that will probably destroy his confidence more rather than just slotting Russ back in healthy as it being his job already. So leaving all this unresolved might be the best move.

So far, Russ has been a consummate team player. But we don't know what he'll be like when he thinks he's ready to play.

Herbig is making this less painful.

I like Herbig, but people need to settle down about him. Fans have been going nuts sayin we should trade Highsmith. I need to see him play a full game as a starter before I start singing his praises. He's been stellar on small snap counts. But once more tape is out on him he will have to work harder to make an impact.

Yeah folks are always too quick to jump to conclusions.

Also didn’t think of this Wilson can play the edge if needed. So they finally have some good backups.

By waiting until Wilson is 100% back he can leave the door open in case Fields self-destructs. That way if Fields needs to go back to the bench he can send him there without benching him. He can just say Wilson is back, he was always the starter, Fields was great, but Wilson is the starter. I think it speaks to the Steelers viewing Fields as the possible future.

I feel better about Fields after this week than before. I know he had a slow start and some of the issues he has had so far are showing up again. But he also showed that he could put the team on his back and fight. I can't help but like the kid. I am also warming to the Smith OC hire. And I hope he has more influence on Fields than mediocre-mike does.

There were errors all around. No one is blameless.

But 312 yards passing, 55 yards rushing, 2 rushing TD, 1 passing TD, and a 104 QB rating is enough to win a game with the self-inflicted mistakes minimized. Starting out sloppy as hell, but really brought it together in the 2nd half. Just not quite enough in the end.
