Bengals in a box.

Patriots were supposedly approached about a trade for Tee Higgins. Bengals wanted the 2024 second at #34. Higgins wants 4 years and $120M with $100M guaranteed. Patriots supposedly said, "Thank you, but fuck you."

NBCSB is reporting that the Patriots are still in th hunt for Calvin Ridley but reached out to Marquis (Hollywood) Brown last night. It's not known if the Patriots are looking at Brown as a fall back or will sign both if things work out that way.

Kendrik Bourne is coming off ACL surgery and is working out, but his exact situation will not be known until OTAs. Damario Douglas has been a regular in the training area as has Tyquan Thorton. TT has to put up or could be put out. Ju-Ju Smith Shuster is still on the roster but could also be shown the door if both Ridley and Brown are signed because it's believed that the Patriots will go for WR in this deep draft. With the new contract in hand, Reagor has a place as a return specialist but could break into the WR rotation. And don't forget Kyashon Boutte. Now that BB is gone, he just might play to his ability and see ten times the number of snaps. Word is, there is tension in the WR Room.

Forget Ridley. Unless the Patriots cross the $20M per year mark.

Boston Herald 2/12/2024 by Andrew Callahan

Because one of the conditions of Ridley’s trade from Atlanta to Jacksonville in November 2022 is the Jaguars would owe a second-round pick to the Falcons if he ever signed an extension. If not, Atlanta would receive a third-round pick. Thus, it behooves Ridley and Jacksonville to wait until the start of the new league year Wednesday at 4 p.m. when his current contract will officially expire, and any new deal becomes a fresh, free-agent contract instead of an extension.

According to ESPN, Ridley is leaning toward picking the Jaguars, but hasn’t decided. It may be that Ridley is attempting to squeeze more money from Jacksonville, but at this point, he’s down to two suitors. The figures are known, and the Patriots must figure their offer is at least comparable, while realizing the Jaguars also hold the following over them: zero income tax, a Pro Bowl quarterback, better weather and a deeper roster that’s made a more recent playoff run.

Ridley will sign back w/ Jags on deal that would equal or best Pats' when considering taxes & cost of living

Patriots and Chargers are discussing four players the Chargers are considering cutting. WR Mike Williams ($17M) coming off an ACL, WR Keenan Allen ($18.1M), DE Joey Bosa ($17M) and DE Kahlil Mack ($17.55M). At 4:00 PM the Chargers will be $25M over the cap. All teams must be at or under the cap at 4:00 PM or lose draft picks and be fined. Patriots can't get them all, but certainly could pick up two. Pretty sure they'd have contract discussions before making a trade for any of them.

Already have Bourne coming back from an ACL. If I were serious, I think I'd be looking at Allen and Mack. $35M for two former All-Pros is pretty decent. Restructuring both for a bit less might be doable.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports EDGE Khalil Mack will remain a Los Angeles Charger this season after “agreeing to restructure his deal.”
Mack entered the offseason with a staggering $38.5 million cap hit for the 2024 season. With Schefter noting that Mack agreed to the restructure, it’s safe to assume he took some sort of pay cut to remain in LA. The Chargers were already cap compliant after cutting Mike Williams and this move now gives them more wiggle room in free agency. It will also clear up space to allow them to sign their incoming rookie class. With Mack in town for another year, the Chargers could look to trade Joey Bosa. The star EDGE is a terror to opposing quarterbacks when healthy but has appeared in just 14 games over the past two seasons. Mack posted one of the best years of his career in 2023, amassing 17 sacks and 21 TFLs while playing in all 17 games.
