I agree with you, Hurts is a great QB, I’m not sure why people still act like he isn’t, he’s made the playoffs all 4 seasons as a starter with 2 Super Bowl appearances and 1 Super Bowl win. Yeah he’s had good talent around him h bute’s a very good player.
You should have stopped at "very good player". Because that's exactly what he is, surrounded by a near perfect situation which he has enjoyed his entire career. Best OL in the league can not be undersold. People forget how down the fans get on Hurts, and it's not just Philly Fan being Philly Fan. For long stretches he is not great despite his surroudings.

If he played in Jacksonville nobody would be calling him great IMO.

The Hurts/Aikman comp is fair, I think both guys are underrated. Winning is the name of the game. Brady can't be the GOAT because of 7 SB wins and Montana couldn't have formally been the GOAT because he was 4-0 in the Super Bowl if winning weren't the main measuring stick. I can make the argument that Mahomes is "better" than Brady and Marino was "better" than Montana, but Hardware tells the tale. I think Aiknan is extremely underrated, because he was willing to sacrifice big numbers to run it down people's throats and win games. There were many great offensive coaches like Bill Walsh and Andy Reid who thought Aikman would have been incredibly prolific in the West Coast scheme
I just don't see Troy Aikman as underrated. He won't show up on any all time lists because they simply didn't throw enough for him to accumulate the necessary stats. But I think most fans recognize that he was one of the most accurate QBs of all time and was a first ballot Hall of Famer. What more do you want?

He’d be the best QB Jacksonville has had since Mark Brunnel. Hurts would be the starter on likely 25 or 26 NFL teams.

I don’t know what your post means haha. You seemed to laugh at me asking a poster if Hurts is a great QB making me think you find that supposition silly. Then you’re invoking Aikman who is in the Hall of Fame. I’m lost and I have no idea what your point is. Help me out.

Is Hurts a great QB?
a man with a beard is making a funny face and saying ummmmm nooo !

Some of these sports articles are kind of perplexing. The Cowboys not only have Micah and signed Fowler as mentioned in the article, but they have so many Edges that Fowler is probably going to be 4th or 5th on the team in snaps at Edge behind Micah and Kneeland who probably start. Then EZ who was just taken in the second round and Sam Williams who outsnapped Fowler two years ago in what was only his second season and now Fodler is two years older. Plus you can't trade for Hendrickson without a deal or at least the framework of a deal in place and you can't sign him without first signing Micah and you are going rightfully create an even bigger problem with Micah than your dumb front office already has. I guess you can sign Micah first and send them back Fowler and Sam Williams and a draft pick but that's a lot of moving parts and they gave up next years third already for Pickens. A trade with most other teams would make a lot more sense for Hendrickson

I think prime Russ is a good comp for Hurts.
Prime Russ threw the football much better than Hurts. Hurts runs much better than Wilson who more scrambled when things broke down whereas Hurts is an actual runner. Plus Hurts is so much stronger and more straight line whereas Wilson was shiftier. It's really hard to compare some of todays running QBs to anyone but each other. They really are like RBs who can throw the football. They are devastating in the running game if you ignore them which in turn helps them as passers. Then what separates the good ones from guys like Richardson and Fields is that they can actually throw the ball too and don't necessarily have to run to have success.

Beautiful... absolutely beautiful.

Thank you 49ers for overpaying for him.
Every time a QB signs it reinforces how dumb the Jones Boyz are. No QB makes over $55M per still right? Dak gets $60M per and now a few have signed after him. They need to hire a new negotiator and just stay out of it like when Jimmy was around. Just rubber stamp the moves like you do with the draft and then go run to the microphone and tell us all how important you are...

Of course, that's internet 101. But that doesn't mean they shouldn't also attempt to make sense to the reader from national media people. It's not like some random guy on twitter. MSN has the worst football articles.

I think improvisationally Russ is better extending and making plays with his arm. I think from the pocket Hurts is a better passer. For the past 7-8 football seasons Hurts has had a different OC/playcaller every year. I think with continuity in play calling Hurts would be even better in the pocket. Those throws are reads and timing and getting used to a certain system.

Both of you make good points.

They have very different game styles. I guess where I was comparing the two was kind of the impact to the team. They certainly bring dynamic playmaking ability in their own way, but need supporting pieces there to succeed.

And when I say 'supporting pieces there to succeed' I mean MORE than an elite QB like Jackson/Allen/Mahomes/Burrow, etc. Not a TON more. Hell Burrow barely has any support in Cincy (Chase/Higgins/Hendrickson and... uh.... uh......................) but I think ya catch my drift.

As I said would it be OK if we just go only by what we know? First, because he had a no trade clause that's why they did what they did in first place.....found out where Deshaun was willing to go. Of more than a dozen inquiries, 6 were chosen and Cleveland was one.

He never agreed to go anywhere other than Cleveland. we have no idea how far other teams would have or did go.
Here's what we know...Watson had 1 team where he waived his no trade clause being Miami. Cleveland was not waived but listened to their first offer which was not good enough. Cleveland offered fully Guaranteed offer for fear of Watson going elsewhere. Watson waived his no trade clause to Cleveland and now he's a Brown.

It doesn't matter what other teams offered cause no team was going to go with a fully guaranteed contract. This isn't difficult to figure out.

He had to waive his no trade clause to meet with any of the 6 teams that he chose. Browns were one.

Get it together.
The fuck are you spewing about?!? No he did not have to waive his no trade clause to talk to Cleveland.

Do you know football?
