QB/OL/DL is still the picks of choice... I can't imagine it will ever be any different. Get a QB, protect your QB, get to the other QB (which yes you can scheme DBs to do that but it's usually EDGE/DL). It's even moreso that way given a passing league and why I hated the Witherspoon pick over Carter so much.

WR? Eh... I mean look at the Nacua guy or whatever in LA. I mean I get you need SOME competent wideouts... but NCAAF is turning into a passing league as well. There's wideouts and corners everywhere. I see ILB starting to shift next... a lot of times they just had to stop the run... now ILBs are getting huge value when they can cover. Colson could move into the top 2nd round because he can cover... Otherwise he'd be a 4th rounder if it was still a run league.

Sure, trading down would be the better option. It's a new group making decisions for the Pats, but their recent history in the draft hasn't been great, decisions-wise.

In the top 100 rankings for the draft, about 20 are WR on average. 1/5 of the prospects. Also probably 7 QBs, at least 2 TEs, 15 CBs and 6-7 safeties. That's half or more of the first 3 rounds essentially on the passing game.

Yah....... I mean I get where you're going. It really comes down to is a POTENTIAL (you don't know yet) QB of the future worth giving up 3-4 1st round picks for? (if you're the Pats)?

I'm not arguing really, it just comes down to how the Pats see those players. Maybe they're out on Maye or Daniels? Maybe they're not high on MH3, it's just projection right now.

The Patriots have indicated they like Williams but only 1 of the other 2 top QBs. It may be a smokescreen excuse to say they're open to trading the pick, but there's no good reason for them to take a QB they don't like at #3. Pick someone else or trade down.

So in Henderson and Okudah the Texans will have 2 corners who were top 10 picks but haven’t lived up to expectations. If those guys can step up their play the Texans will have a strong secondary.

The Pats SHOULD take Maye or Daniels, whichever QB is there. That is the pick that is sitting in their lap and they desperately need a QB but if for some reason they don't obviously the play is to get a ton of picks to move down. It makes sense bc they have so many needs. Like you outlined.

1. Get your QB
2. Protect your QB

If they pass on QB there is absolutely no reason to take a WR or LT. I mean I get LT more than I get WR but still...the QB class next year is not great and you can't expect to trade for a franchise QB or pick you up in FA...it never happens.

Now if they trade down to the 9 or 11 spots and you don't like the QB's then working on those other areas make a bit more sense especially after acquiring more picks. For all that we know they love Rattler

The Pats would be epically stupid to not take Maye or Daniels. They really need a franchise QB and it is rare to get such a high draft pick.

I think most agree that Caleb Williams is the best QB in this draft. After that some are thinking Daniels while others are saying Maye. I've even heard McCarthy's name thrown in there.

If I were selecting and someone offers me a butt ton of picks for #3, I'd be inclined to take it.


McCarthy, Bo Nix and Penix will still be there. I'm not sure there is that much difference in them after Williams. NE has a lot of holes and could use those picks to get a QB, OT and WR.

We've all seen sure fire players fail in the NFL conversely we've seen the Brady's #199 and Mr. Irrelevant Brock Purdy have great success.

Give me all those picks and the odds are at least one will shine.

NEs QB and WR picks have been terrible. OL and defense have been money makers.


But I agree trade down. The D is stout. I hope they sign Stephon Gilmore to a 1 or 2 year deal. That would shore up the corners assuming Gonzalez returns to his 1st year form prior to getting injured. They just signed S Jaylin Hawkins. He's not a game changer but should do well in NEs defensive scheme. Maybe go safety later in the draft and hope to find a nugget.

Trade down and go QB, OT and WR with the first handful of picks.

The draft is such a crap shoot.

Williams without a doubt will do well.

I'm not sure on Daniels or Maye being that much better than the other 3? So picking up all that draft capital and taking JJ, Nix or Penix, hmmm I think I take that chance. Sometimes a player just needs a certain system or a coach he can relate to.

I'd like to see a mobile, dual threat QB in NE for a change.

They do have Brissett, who is a better QB than what the teams below them have (Raiders, Broncos, Vikings, maybe Giants). I think the Patriots (of those 5 teams) have the most other needs. They are also projected to be one of the struggling teams this coming season. There are a lot of unknowns though in the post-Belichick era, and it really comes down to how they see these QBs. They could wait to see if Nix or Penix slides to them in the second, or even wait for Rattler if they're not smitten with Daniels and Maye. The one thing worse than not getting your QB is taking the wrong prospect, costing your roster an elite prospect at another position (or multiple prospects if they trade down).

I would take the QB, but I can see both sides. That's why I like the idea of the Vikings first trading up to 5, then moving to 3 if the Pats are willing. Then the Pats only fall to 5 and could still get a top 4 QB or Nabers/Alt/Bowers, whatever they're preference would be.

I would have to imagine they trade down to the Vikes. Vikes will give them #11, #23, a 2025 first (I mean MAYBE a 2026 first? Does this turn into a 4 1st round pick move?), and some 2nds/3rds scattered about. The haul they could get would be ridiculous.

New regimes usually mean new QBs, so I don't put much into the Pats drafting MHJ, but anything is possible.

I could see it....but seems like a lot if they think they'd be getting their #4 WR on their board.

Last comment says it all....meaning, as fans we don't really have a clue what these teams are thinking and doubt these teams care much about predraft rankings and mocks.

Might even be inclined to stand pat as maybe the guy they love the most at QB falls to 3? sure there's risk there as I guess someone could trade up to 2.
