I've seen the other three and admittedly didn't watch Maye this year. With Maye, every week I would simply check the box score and see how he did. Some weeks were good and some average.Oh I understand .... Griffin hurt because so much was given up. I also have not forgot Shuler ..... or even Desmond Howard.
I am not saying no to QB, but it's not my decision .... counting on the new FO. If they like QB and want to go in that direction I'll be rooting for him and the team.
One thing for sure that hasn't changed since Cousins left .... they need a plan at QB. Of course I said when KC left ... good luck replacing him.
I have seen very little of any of the "top" QBs this year. I saw Maye quite a bit two years ago and thought he looked good. Have seen little since. I really liked what I saw from Penix last weekend and am looking forward to him playing against Michigan.
Context means a lot in a game. It's impossible to judge a QB fairly when you just looked at the box score.
That's why I really don't have an assessment on Maye when people ask me what I think of him. I always defer.
I have a love hate relationship with Kirk. Kirk can ball. Let's be clear. If he had a defense while he was here who knows. Jackson, Garçon, Crowder, Reed, Chris Thompson. That group was a problem.
It just seemed like to me, when we needed Kirk to make a play at the most crucial part in the game he either checked down, threw a pick, or gave up a sack fumble. I'm not sure a defense would have fixed that. Jmo
It's been a train wreck at the position since he left. The first ten weeks of Howell was actually the best we've had since Kirk.
We were winning with Alex, but the anesthetics of his play and the offense wasn't sexy enough for most.
This is the best shot we are gonna get to solve the position.
