I played the simulator 6x. Utah won it on the 5th and 6th tries.

I know I didn’t predict, but I knew we weren’t going to get anything better than our eighth spot. Now this is where you point out that we got Deron Williams, but whatever.

I think there's been other teams with even longer droughts of not moving up in the draft.

I'll try to have more details later. I have a few teams I know with long streaks, but if I can get a more verified list, it would be a good comparison basis, to see where the Jazz rank, on not moving up.

And I actually did not think of the 2005 draft, when this year's draft lottery was revealed. I was just focused on trying to think of what the Jazz should do with this offseason, to put themselves on the best path for winning.

What would your predictions have been?

San Antonio top three, Utah 10 or worse. Yes, I still remember Deron Williams lottery.

The Boozer/Okur/Williams/Kirilenko is good/bad for me.

They did have their moments, but I always wish they could have had more great seasons together.

And individually, none of them were great for as long as I would have wanted them to be.

Boozer, a lot for health reasons.

Okur also dropped off after a few years.

Williams FT shooting, defense, and turnovers never got to a more manageable level. A championship winning level. Not even with the Nets.

Kirilenko had one of the biggest drop offs, from an All-Star, I've ever seen. He should have been a DPOY candidate for many years.

And it would have been cool for Utah to have had 3 DPOYs, with Eaton, Kirilenko, and Gobert. Now that establishes a culture.

Well Malone and Stockton probably could have won too. Imagine having a DPOY every decade. 80s - Eaton, 90s Malone or Stockton, 2000s Kirilenko, 2010s Gobert, 2021 Gobert, 2020s Walker Kessler.
