I think resigning Hank and Gilmore would have been no Brainerd for this team for depth. If not Hank, choose another veteran 340+ pounder. DT is scary thin. LB looks better on paper, but that's also depending a ton on Overshown being completely healed and the rookie being able to contribute
If Harris can work his magic with Carson then this secondary is in great shape. Carson has lots of potential, but needs to learn how to look back for the ball. That is the only glaring weakness I see in his game.

Harris being hired was one of the best moves McCarthy made. He turned Diggs and Bland into All -Pros. I remember Harris as a player and he was a total thorn in the side of the Cowboys defense. He was always making plays on the ball.

Gilmore is still out there though. He would add valuable veteran depth. If they could add Gilmore and a big NT?
The other potential roster issue is the offensive tackles. The depth is non existent. Ball sucks. Chuma sucks. Walettzko is an injury waiting to happen.

There are a couple of decent vet OT's that have been solid starters available. It would be worth it to pay one of them a few million even if all they were was insurance

Well we wont have to worry about actual 75 mil per year, but the alternative of paying Dak.
If we pay a bunch of other stars & play with a back up QB we might not even make the playoffs.

The idea of simply saying the QB position is gonna cost to much, so lets just start over with the most important position in football is absurd to me.
Oh boy do I understand how important the position is. But that kinda scratch puts me in a position to move on cause he ain't proved it. But like upthread said, earn next contract. So far he hasn't earned it, IMO.

Are we conditioned to believe we will never have a good YOUNG QB? Tony's youth was waisted...fuck BP.

It is still not easy to find a franchise QB. All those ones you mentioned, except Mahomes, have won what exactly???
One of them stomped the shit out of us. Won that game anyways. And Goffs record ain't shabby.

This is what gets me salivating. Busting guys chops all the way down field.

Good to hear Vaughns name called!
If they can't run the ball up the middle behind Smith,Beebe and Martin then these coaches need to be gone.. I noticed last season two of the best games running the ball was when Biadaz was out hurt.

Never cared for that pick at C and they just never seemed intent on replacing him. I would bet if he had not left in FA they would have meandered along and not replaced him.

Honestly I was excited about the pick. Wisc. Center. Was really hoping for more from him. Was hoping to go from one Wisc center to the next.
Didnt work out. My bad!

Losing Fred was a devastating loss for this franchise. Winning 12 games the last 3 seasons, you have to ask yourself what kind of effect having a HOF center would have had on this already potent offense. Converting in short yardage and protecting Dak from pressure up the middle were problems that disappear with Fredrick in the middle. I don't like Jason Kelce but he was one Hell of a player and difference maker for the Eagles. Fred was better than Kelce was

As much as some in the past thought Centers dont matter.
To me they are most important. You will never see a great OL without a good center. its the one position on the OL you can't gameplan around the weakness. Not only because of pass blocking, run blocking in the middle of the line/pocket, but they are the QB of the OL.
I hope Beebe brings us back to the OL we all are hoping for. Before martin retires :(

Been watching KSU games. Still can't believe Beebe was there in round 3. I wonder though if Center could be a waste of his talents. I get they want to get him on the field and Center is how he gets on the field this year. All Pro potential is what I see. This guy is a battering ram. Watched 3 games and the Pop tart Bowl. This guy gets to the second level in a hurry and with bad intentions.

Really like Avery Johnson as a QB prospect. Maybe Dallas tanks and gets this guy in a few years.

Martin probably has one or two more years. If Beebe is as good as some of us think he might be we can move him when Martin retires and get a center or keep him. Good problem to have. If Steele bounces back a year removed from his injury, Martin is healthy and we hit on both OL picks this could be an incredible OL. "IF" of course being a huge part of that comment.

I like beefing up the lines. But we thought we did some of this the last few years only to get our hopes dashed.

I want Beebe to be that guy I cheer for. He fell to 3rd for a reason. Maybe warranted. Maybe not. We have hit on some major draft drops in the passed. Also failed. Usually those were injury draft drops though.
