Webb and Ramos.

I get the sense that Webb’s inclusion is more a nod to his overall consistency than his actual performance this year, but that’s OK.

Ramos breaks the almost 40 year drought since Chili Davis.
Webb has the 8th lowest ERA for starters in the NL, there are only 6 with an ERA below 3.00

And he leads the NL in innings pitched...his performance this year is legit

Glad to see Ramos make it, thought if they got their one he'd be out, not having started the year up in the majors, and being a rookie.

Neither does Bailey. Base runners are running wild on him and he’s not good offensively either. Last year I thought he was excellent
More solid insight from this genius

Bailey is a stretch. He is solid, and WILL be an allstar many times over. But we are a losing team and do not deserve 3 all stars. I think we barely deserve 2.
I think the 2 we got both very much deserve it, but that's probably all that do

I just looked at the stats for closers...he's 11th with a 4+ ERA...yeesh. didn't realize he was that inconsistent. You're correct. We just need Bailey as a replacement and we should have three this year.

Three feels about right.
If you take out the 4 earned runs (and the one out) he clocked on June 16 when they put him in with a 9 run lead, his ERA drops to 3.06

Still doesn't deserve to be an allstar but that figure more accurately reflects how he's doing. And yes you can cherry pick that out, his job is to close not be a mop up guy.

Well, Ramos isn’t a rookie as of the end of last year, so maybe that is why they picked him!

KNBR mentioned another stat about Webb. I think I got this right, Webb hasn't allowed a run in the 7th inning and he has the most 7th inning appearances amongst starters.

He really is a throw back.

Kinda…

ONLY getting to the 7th, just 10 years ago, was what was expected of your #3 starter. Not your CY contending Ace.

July 2nd, 1963:

Marichal 16 innings pitched 227 pitches
Spahn: 42 years old 201 pitches 15 2/3rds innings pitched

Mays wins that game 1-0 with a walk off homer in the 16th

Now they can't get through the 7th. If they get to the 7th its almost unheard of

Saw the Willy Mays Celebration at Oracle today. Marichal was there and his 16 innning 1-0 win vs. Braves/Spann was recounted. Never to be seen again

From mid 1953 to 1954, Robin Roberts threw 28 complete games in a row, including a 17 inning game he won 7-6. It’s really different now LOL

For sure. Lots of pitching stuff like that will never happen again. Like the time the White Sox played the Angels in the 2nd round of the 2005 playoffs….they lost the first game then won the next 4 in a row with their pitchers throwing complete games in all 4. That will never happen again in the playoffs for sure and probably not ever in any 4 games in a row for anyone.

#weakassfan??

LOL.
Don’t compound your pussiness with stupidity, although I suspect you’re messing around. If not I guess I was mistaken about your baseball intelligence. Stop being so butthurt I call out your pusillanimous behavior in game day threads. You know you deserve it.
