Unfortunately we will never get a top 15/20 typle of player to cut their summer short for the fiba world basketball tourney....only happens for the Olympics

It is also why team USA will never again get consistent results.

Ideal world for me?

Take a bunch of fringe NBA types and create a team USA that gets a salary from USA basketball to be the official team year round.

Play exhibitions against NBA and other pro teams (each NBA team could play them once maybe?)

Lesser talent obviously, but the continuity of playing together year round would allow them to develop chemistry that Team USA always seems to lack with these thrown together rosters.

They do also have more of a base of players that show up whether or not the NBA headliners are there.

And since European pro leagues have much more reasonable schedules, it is viable for them to play during their off seasons.

The good news is they do have that villanova connection which is a quarter of the roster so that should help with the chemistry.
