KD's agent didn't call other teams and tell them he wouldn't be happy if he was dealt there. That right there could very well scare some teams off and lower Portland's return for him.

KD said Suns last summer. He ended up with the Suns but it was a long time.

These are just supermax deals.

Not a single penny of this contract is negotiated. It’s just set percentages of the cap.

Here is what his agent walks in and says: “Either give us the supermax contract extension or we walk in free agency next year after what will be a year with a lot of soft tissue injuries. And even if you want to trade my client instead of giving him the supermax extension, I will burn every trade offer to the ground you get by promising the potential trade partners that we won’t sign with them because without the supermax we just want to hit free agency as a punishment to you for costing my client his earned contract value.”

And that is literally the end of the conversation.

Boston can either give the contract, watch him walk in free agency or take back pennies on the dollar in a trade. At least by signing him they maintain his value in a trade next summer if they really don’t want to pay him this deal.

I haven't said much over the past few day, just watching and waiting.

If I haven't learned much, I've certainly learned one thing. When some media hack starts dumping trade bullshit with the never questioned, Sources close to the team or reliable front office resources, you know one thing. He doesn't know a fuckin' thing and throwing shit out to get some clicks and reference from shmucks like us who are dying from sports boredom. The only thing really going on is MLB. No NBA, no NFL no NHL. You or I could get more attention and facetime and facebook if we walked through the Mall of America nake except for a striped tie.

What if the hold-up in the Jalen Brown signing is that it's a sign and trade with Portland? Would the guy who said that the deal with Miami was close, turn around and apologize or would he most likely say, I knew about this but the Miami trade made more sense at the time??

Take a breath. We all will know the truth as soon as the real dealers get done with the real deal.

You're not wrong but this part of the season is part of the fun for NBA geeks. It's almost as fun as the regular season (not the playoffs obviously)

Duh. With Memphis to me being the most logical choice. We did a whole thread on this, including how the divisions would work. But maybe they just go to conferences only since divisions have no real meaning outside of scheduling.

If it's just 2 16 team conferences, maybe they do 50 games in conference (3-4 per opponent) and 32 other conference (2 each). If it's 4 8 team divisions maybe they do 4 vs your division opponents (28 games), 3 vs the other division in conference (24 games) and 30 other conference. Or something like that.

But next year the super max will be more.

Just like with NFL QBs, highest paid isn’t the best, it is the guy paid most recently.

He shouldn't be a part of a regular rotation. Spot minutes guy for depth when injuries happens so basically your 12th or 13th guy

That's all they need really. They have I think 13 guys under contract and I know for sure they only intend to use 14 max to start the season
