49 million cap hit in 2023 for Dak, oh that's going to hurt.
Won't be $49M next year. We'll punt some out again. The dead money after his contract is up is going to be the problem

I bet it will be. They cant keep on kicking it down the road. They already have $21 in dead money at the end of the contract and next season there are only 2 legit years on the deal remaining. So if they try to save lets say $14M against the cap next season, they have to convert $21 to signing. So a new $7M goes into the 2024 year meaning his cap hit in the final year would balloon to $60M while the dead cap hit would go to almost $30M in 2025. It is hard enough to negotiate a new deal with him as it is......add more into those numbers and it starts to become even more unmanageable.

Cowboys need start to pay as you go a little bit. Especially with Lamb and Diggs needing extensions by 2024 and then of course the potential huge one of Parsons in 2025.

I suspect if you search the terms "kick the can" and similar items on here my name will come up just about the most. Don't confuse my thoughts on cap management with those of most NFL teams including the Cowboys

Cousins just signed and he already has $12.5M of dead money after his contract is up and you couldn't cut him because of the dead money that would have hit your cap from his last deal and kind of had to resign him.

The Saints just signed Daniel Sorensen.

The end of an era.

I'd have taken the bath. But ownership still thinks that the Vikings are capable of serious contention next year (and that just is not the case).

You're preaching to the choir on the Vikings and kicking the can. With a new GM and coach, this was and is the perfect time to burn it down and start from scratch. Instead, that probably happens next year when it will be more difficult.

Gaskins was a starter on the Dolphins because of incompetence of their front office. He doesn’t a make the roster on most teams in the league and doesnt start on any other team.

Miami is kind of a hilarious example of how NOT to do the RB position. They spent 5 late round draft pick on RB’s in the last 4 years and got terrible production from the position.

Now they signed vet RB’s for too much money in Edmonds and Mostert (Edmonds in particular) and most assuredly will get near bottom of the league production.

You go look at the 2020 NFL draft where Miami had a ton of early picks and didnt have a RB. How they didn't work that into drafting one in the 2nd is just mind boggling stupidity. Any moron in the GM chair probably easily walks out of that draft with Johnathan Taylor, Cam Akers, JK Dobbins, AJ Dillion or Antonio Gibson. Any of whom would be HUGE upgrades over what they have had or what they will have going forward.
Not disagreeing, but that terrible O line of Miami certainly didn't help those RB stats.

Davante Parker might be the next WR on the move.
He's a decent fit with the other two, but will he be OK with a 3rd target (or 4th behind Gesicki) role?

The Dolphins would be smart to move him now.

Heck....the Pack could use a pick or 2 to acquire him.

I said that CEH was a bad pick at the time. If you can't succeed in that offense, you probably can't succeed anywhere.
And he isn't failing in the offense. The assumption, though, is that he should be looking like... well... what R Jones looked like in Tampa. Or better.

I'd imagine the good thing here is that Mahomes doesn't care too much about Jones' complete lack of pass protection because Mahomes seems to float out of the pocket under his own accord and people generally don't blitz Mahomes.

Yeah, I think R Jones will be the primary RB here
