Why the heck wouldn't they? Guy has been growing into a very good player. I myself would like to see if he can reach an elite level of play, of course having more and better playmakers around him will help.
Right on the money.

A Big fast power forward with a great shot that could score 35 plus a year.

He definitely has all the intangibles, now it's up to management to continue to build around him. Would love to get the Russian kid here and really get things kicked into gear.

Its mind boggling to me how the others teams star players always light us up and we have supposedly a shut down first line center.

You know what else we don't have, a number one shut down defense pairing either.
Defensive pairings are more tricky. Usually the top pair guys are mostly offensive minded and point getters like a Makar or Quinn Hughes etc. The defensive defenseman are usually bottom four defenseman. We have decent defenders in our bottom four like Seeler , Walker and York, Risto, Zamula but nobody who will be praised for the best defensive dman in the league

Out of all the guys you mentioned, Seeler is the only one I never see taking a night off, JMO.

York is also out there giving 100% on every shift IMO.
For the most part, he's still getting caught out of position a lot, probably just growing pains but on an elite NHL level that kind of stuff will kill you. He's got a lot of up side though, hope he gets better and stronger. Funny usually by game 20-25 we've had our 10 game losing streak, at least we're at the midway point this year, baby steps lol. The second half will be very interesting.

It's crazy to me how much this team fell apart in the last 10 games, yes we were competitive in a few but always battling from behind, hope it was just burnout and we get rejuvenated for round 2. My only concern is if we catch a second wind, will we be burned out come playoff time?

Hopefully we can make the playoffs. We dont know what's going to happen at the deadline. Torts and Danny B might just blow it up and go into full rebuild mode. It certainly is an interesting and exciting season so far when we all thought it was just a lose every game season.

I agree, I definitely want to see more Brink in the 2nd half. Not sure why he's sitting so much, I myself thought he was playing with a lot of high energy when he was in the line up. Always in the corners despite his size. Just weird.

I think this is just a perfect shitstorm as of late. We've played a lot of games recently against some of the best teams in the Nhl and their superstars have been scorching us. Kucherov, MacKinnon and Pastrnak are the league's top three scorers and they've absolutely feasted on us recently.

So, there's some fatigue, a lack of confidence probably at both ends of the ice and also just general below average play on home ice. A lot of the plays beating our defense and goalies have been very fortunate bounces or world class efforts by world class players. Not much you can do in either case.

It's tough when you're running into a buzzsaw every night, but I definitely think we laid an egg against Ottawa and didn't test Lyon near enough at Detroit. That was an easy shutout for him, quite frankly.

Also, with Tippett out injured and Konecny slumping a bit, that's a pretty big hit to our offensive game.

Idk what happened against Boston, but we definitely battled hard against Colorado and Tampa, but were just overwhelmed by top level players, especially when they had the man advantage. Nice to see Foerster get a couple goals in the last game. We've gotta get these young guys some offensive confidence.

We have Atkinson, Hathaway,Sanheim and Poehling at a combined minus 58 and none of them ever sit. Maybe Torts should take a lesson from the coach in Russia.
