So you are saying Chargers guessed wrong?
I think that would mean the Colts guessed right. They had the first pick and "guessed" Manning would be better than Leaf. People were guessing 6 or so years earlier that Mirer was better than Bledsoe. The Pats didn't concur.

Another question.............................

Big discussion on BST last night about the 'possibility' of Bill moving up in the first round.

Would you trade the first and second round picks to move up into a spot between 10 and 15 if it was for a superior CB, LB or Edge or a shot a Jameson Williams?

It might be a prelude to something else that they're working on like a Harry trade?

OR Bill has two players that he has in mind that he doesn't want to spend a 5th rounder on and picked up the 7th.
Agreed. And with the depth in this draft and it seems deep to me I have to wonder if he is wanting to build capital. And now I am extremely curious about #21.

Here's the updated list of Patriots picks.

Here is a 2022 NFL draft pick-by-pick breakdown for the New England Patriots:

Round 1 (No. 29 overall, from 49ers through Dolphins and Chiefs) - Cole Strange, OG, Chattanooga: A highly competitive interior lineman who distinguished himself at the Senior Bowl, he probably takes over at right guard following the trade of Shaq Mason. Strange only allowed one sack over the past three seasons. Draft tracker

Round 2 (54)

Round 3 (85)

Round 3 (94, from Chiefs)

Round 4 (121, from Dolphins through Chiefs)

Round 4 (127)

Round 5 (158, from Dolphins)

Round 6 (183, from Patriots)

Round 6 (200)

Round 6 (210, from Rams)

Round 7 (245, from Cowboys through Texans)

New England Patriots' last five top draft picks:

  • 2021 (No. 15 overall): Mac Jones, QB, Alabama
  • 2020 (No. 37 overall): Kyle Dugger, S, Lenoir-Rhyne
  • 2019 (No. 32 overall): N'Keal Harry, WR, Arizona State
  • 2018 (No. 23 overall): Isaiah Wynn, OT, Georgia
  • 2017 (No. 83 overall): Derek Rivers, DE, Youngstown State

My guess as to what Bill will do today.

Round 2 (54) CB

Round 3 (85) WR

Round 3 (94, from Chiefs) SURPRISE!!!!!!!!!! QB

Carson Strong, Nevada

NCAA Football: Senior Bowl Practice
Mandatory Credit: Vasha Hunt-USA TODAY Sports
  • Age: 22
  • Size: 6-foot-4, 225 lbs
  • Current draft projection: Mid-round pick
  • Carson Strong stats (2021): 70.2%, 4,186 passing yards, 36 TD, 8 INT
  • -208 rushing yards, 0 TD
No, that’s not a typo, Carson Strong really finished his final college season with a negative amount of rushing yards. I’m sure if we asked Strong, he wouldn’t care about that aspect, he is what he is, but he does possess some sneaky athleticism that might surprise some teams.

The California native has one of the biggest arms in this QB class and can routinely connect on bombs downfield. During the Senior Bowl, Strong impressed with his ability to make shorter and intermediate passes that still cut through the high winds players were dealing with. Strong can make up some more ground during the rest of the pre-draft process, but he has no chance of rising into the top three of our 2022 NFL Draft quarterback prospect rankings.

A chronic knee injury that Strong dealt with at Nevada might also knock him down a bit on some draft boards.

Whoever picks Strong is getting one of the best pocket passers in college football. He has the potential to improve with some better coaching. A three-star prospect, Nevada was his only FBS offer, yet Strong was among the most productive signal-callers in the nation.

  • Carson Strong strengths: Arm strength, good pocket presence, confident, aggressive thrower, experienced, ball placement
  • Carson Strong weaknesses: Long-term durability questions (knee), not a runner, not always the best deep ball thrower despite his big arm, sometimes gets stuck on his first or second read

So Bill trades DOWN to pick up a guy who they easily could have picked up late in the 2nd round probably even in the 3rd round... WTF!?!

Just curious, what did they trade to themselves to get this pick?
