Nobody really “wins” this trade. They’re just getting out of bad decisions made and someone else’s bad decision becomes a better fit for all 3 teams goals.

Do you think Philly likes Hayward and Plumlee more than keeping Harris? I get that there is a benefit of about 9 million less Hayward makes

In non LA news Detroit is keeping Diallo and have made the qualifying offer on Bagley. Have to assume Frank Jackson is gone. (He'd be a good one for LA if he shot like he did 2 years ago)

Making it even less likely they go for Ayton.

I'm starting to think it's more likely they fill their cap space through trade rather than Bridges.
Can I interest you in a gently used Tobias Harris piece?

GH is a better fit and Plumlee gives them a backup C.

Detroit turned down his 3.2 mill option? That's cheap.

By my math Philly needs to clear around 20m for pj tucker to work (accounting for player salary and empty roster slot charges)

But I don’t know what the hard cap number is exactly

They don't really need him having drafted Ivey. Presuming they keep Joseph they have several point guard options and Bey and Diallo can both play the 2. But I'd like to see them add more of a true shooting guard to go along with Ivey. Cade can basically play 3 positions as well.

Could also see Joseph moved too though. But I really like him as a vet presence.

Long story short Jackson doesn't fit the roster anymore.

He’s a more willing catch and shoot guy because of fit. And Plumlee actually becomes important in this deal for Philly. Doc Rivers doesn’t trust young players and the roster now has 2nd year Bassey and 3rd year BBall Paul (not really a 5 anyway IMO) so having Plumlee as a back up for Embiid brings some value. Sixers can also use their midlevel on a 3 and D wing. (My choice is Danuel House)
Harden
Maxey
Hayward
House
Embiid
Bench: Melton Thybulle Niang Plumlee BBall Paul (as a PF for when they can’t match up with Hayward or House on the other team’s 4)

I think that squad has more versatility to match up with “the others” and the games they bring complement what Harden/Maxey/Embiid do. Harden/Maxey/Embiid is who they are.

Now…if they can talk Harden into a redo now of 3 years 110-120 million before FA starts they can add PJ Tucker for 3/30

Then it’s:
Harden
Maxey
Hayward
Tucker
Embiid
Bench: Melton Thybulle Niang BBall Paul Plumlee with Bassey being Embiid injury insurance with another year in the G League. Then next summer they can move Plumlee’s expiring 10 million and give Bassey the back up 5.

My conspiracy theory on that is that the Sixers are blowing Tucker smoke because their real target is Caleb Martin. If Heat have to step up their offer to Tucker to match and keep him then they go into their available midlevel money making it more difficult for them to match on a Caleb Martin situation.

Got to get a Megamillions quick pick before going home.

And I'm off to do some work.

Well if they don't find some way to improve the roster this year, regardless that's it next year. Lebron won't opt in. He wants to win one or two titles before he goes out I believe.
Yeah and I want to win the lottery

I got nothing against Tobi. At least his detroit teams were fun to root for at times. But that's a lot of juice lol.
It’s a shame because as a player Harris should be a great asset to have. It went under the radar but last season he really became an average plus defender when it was a failing of his prior. Additionally, he was most hurt fit wise when Harden came. If you look back at the season thread we were talking post trade that you just dump Harris for whatever but dude really swallowed the pill and did what he could to complement. He’s a true professional and a great locker room guy. But we come back to the huge issue with Tobi. He’s overpaid for what he is. If dude is making 20-25 million a year he’s one of the more valuable contracts in the league as a third option offensively that can defend 3s and 4s. But here we are. Truth be told, because he’s such a pro, if the Sixers have to go to war with him in 2022-23 I won’t be mad. Another off season of work for him to assimilate and be more of a catch and shoot guy, in the long run, he may be better than anything they’ll take back in a trade. (That fits your point earlier of is Hayward any better?). Also on Harris…come the trade deadline the pendulum swings for a team that may want to tank. They can shed salary for a guy who would be an expiring the following season.

Philly panicked and overpaid him because of Jimmy. Not his fault. As you say had he been signed at a more reasonable deal the dude would be a solid player to have. Seemed like he had a good playoff as well.

I think Hayward is a great fit but the dude can't stay healthy to save his life.

What happened to they'll pay?
They'll pay EVERYONE ELSE (Wiggins, Poole, Payton, Looney) bruh. It's a lot. Porter is expendable. GTFO with 'what happened to'. You clearly didn't read me right the first time.
