Why not just ride it out and swallow the shit this year and move on? It’s not like they’re a championship team even if they buy him out and add spare parts anyway.

That is the stretch provision. Buyout is what the Rockets did with Wall. He and the Lakers would agree on a lump sum for him to go away. He would then be a FA. I think the Rockets paid Wall $41 million.
