It's ultimately his decision.
And he should be asking himself what he would be pressuring younger players to do. It’s a joke he is in that position to begin with.

Nets are calling his bluff, as they should.

Lets see if he takes the 6 mil.

If he doesn't opt into his player option then nobody wants him and he has interest in the Lakers. It's literally his only option unless he just doesn't play the season but that actually lowers his value even more lol.

He either opts in and then has to live with BKN's decision or takes less for the Lakers. It appears not one team is going to trade for him. Better off taking less with LA, if he doesn't freakout this year, he will get a nice "long-term contract"

Yeah. He needs a year to prove he is serious about being an NBA player.

Question is, would he really take so much less from LA?

Because I am sure he could get a 1 year max or near max from another team.

Sounding like this is true. The Cavs can give more than this but I doubt they want to give up all their future picks for Murray, is my guess.

They could give LeVert, Markkanen or Sexton and less picks for Murray

Ironic that LeBron had the same stance on why he won't take a paycut again.

But, the Lakers might land a guy that takes 1/5 of what be can get elsewhere.

Yeah I think there could be a handful of teams that would say fuck it, lets give him a nice, one year deal, but as crazy as he is, it does seem he wants to play on a winning team. Still, difference between $35M and $6M is A LOT.

Especially when you gave up half your salary last year

Another angle....

He opts in, they both stay and they win it all.

I honestly believe that idiot would rather deny himself and the Nets a ring by taking the 6 mil.

He would abhor them benefiting from his " slave " labor.

The dude holds grudges. He absolutely would take $6M just to prove a point

Did you hear the Cleveland Baseball Team will be sold? Just heard about it. No more Dolan!

Lakers are better off if Irving opts out and accepts the $6M obviously. Then they can just work on dumping Russ + picks to grab one or two decent players on bad contracts. They don't give a shit.

It was reported MJ was thinking about Russ. Hayward + filler for Russ and a 1st
Maybe Indiana. Brogdon + Hield for Russ and 1st(s)

If it isn't Charlotte, some rebuilding team would take that expiring contract and a draft pick.

Bam is untouchable?

KD and Butler is better than Butler and Bam...

Sure it is.

But for how long?

And does it make them good enough to win a ring?

Probably not if they give up all their other good players to get KD.
