Finishing with an overall PFF grade of 82.4, Sewell came in at No. 66.

“Asked to play both left and right tackle during the season, Sewell earned an 84.5 run-blocking grade and surrendered 35 pressures in total,”

Despite some hiccups here and there, Sewell has been praised for his performance throughout the season. In 2021, he posted the best PFF run blocking grade of any rookie offensive tackle in the past 12 years at 85.1. He was the king of all-rookie teams, including PFF’s list, the Pro Football Writers of America’s, and Sports Info Solutions’ squad.

Actual role in 2021

15 games (15 starts):
108 tackles (3 for loss), 1 sack, 1 interception, 6 pass breakups
PFF grade: 65.1 (37th out of 64 safeties playing at least 50% of snaps)
Free safety: 70% of snaps

While he finished 37th among safeties on PFF’s grading scale, during the first month and a half of the season he was dominant. After Week 5—arguably his best game of the season—Walker had graded out as PFF’s No. 2 safety (20 percent of defensive snaps minimum) overall, including being the third-best safety against the run and seventh-best safety against the pass.

Per Over The Cap, the deal will pay the 26-year-old fullback a total of $4.1 million over the two seasons. Not quite half of the deal, $2.03 million, is fully guaranteed.

Cabinda will have a fully guaranteed salary worth $1.035 million in 2022. The rest of the guaranteed money is a $1 million signing bonus which gets spread out evenly over the two seasons. The salary cap hit for 2022 is $1.53 million.

The 2023 season of the contract has some wrinkles. None of the $1.9 million salary is guaranteed

I like the re-signing and the possible potential he has shown this past year for being utilized in many different capacities

I hope to hell that BH stays away from signing any tier1 or even tier2 WR this upcoming off-season.

Hopefully, he can re-sign K. Raymond and J. Reynolds relatively on the cheap.

Over the last four seasons of free agency, just two of the 32 premium free agents (total contract value of at least $8 million) at wide receiver have topped 1,000 receiving yards. Only four have caught at least 70 passes in the first season with the new team.

In fact, Raymond posted more productivity in Detroit’s largely moribund passing offense than all but two of the 10 free agent wideouts who pulled at least $8 million in total contract value last offseason. One of those is the man whose role he replaced in Detroit, Marvin Jones, who was very good on a very bad Jacksonville team.

It’s not a welcome statistic to lead the league in, but the data is not a surprise to Lions fans who saw the team ravaged by several critical injuries in the 3-13-1 season. The New England Patriots had the fewest games lost to injury with just 23. Detroit beat that lucky mark by more than 100,

At the bottom of the injury list was Detroit, which lost 134 games by starters. Second worst was Baltimore (125), followed by the New York Giants (115), the New York Jets (113) and the Washington Football Team (111).

I'm good with this re-signing too but would like to counter this with re-singing @Mebert boy, Shaun Dion Hamilton.

Contract details were not released by the team.

Actual role in 2021

0 games: Undisclosed injury landed him on injured reserve ahead of the season

Before the Lions had even hired Brad Holmes for their general manager position, the Lions interim management team claimed Hamilton off of waivers after he was released by the Washington Commanders (then Football Team).

Hamilton was coming off his worst season as a professional—a PFF grade of 36.5 in 2020—but he had flashed coverage ability in recent years—89.7 coverage grade in 2019—and that was something the Lions were desperate for, so they took a chance he would show that skill in Detroit.

When training camp opened in the fall, the Lions appeared to have clear starters at linebacker (Jamie Collins and Alex Anzalone), a rookie that needed time to develop but showed promise (Derrick Barnes), and Jalen Reeves-Maybin, who at the time was a special teams lock with upside depth at linebacker. That left only one or two roster spots open for other options.

By the end of the first week, Hamilton was making splash plays in multiple phases of practice and appeared to be the front runner for a depth spot. By the end of week two, there was talk of him potentially being LB3 and part of the linebacker rotation due to his quickness and ability to hang in coverage.

No to every player except re-signing Charles Harris, albeit, hopefully, to nothing more than a 2–3-year deal near the 8M per year average AT Most.

Maybe half of his total contract comes with guaranteed money. There's absolutely no guarantee Romeo Okwara comes back healthy or what kind of ascension, in play, comes with Austin Bryant and Julian Okwara. This possible re-sign of C. Harris relies solely upon Trey Flowers either being cut or traded.

As much as I'm worried as to whether A. O. can become a legitimate CB2, I sure as hell hope another year or two under the guidance of Pleasant will keep his play on the field towards an ascending level/

Oruwariye, in his third year out of Penn State, had a breakout 2021 season. He was one of three NFL players to log at least 50 tackles, 10 passes defended and six interceptions this past season. His six interceptions were the third most in the league, despite missing three games at the end of the season with a thumb injury. Opposing passers completed less than 60 percent of their passes when throwing at him with a 60.2 passer rating. Oruwariye gave up two touchdowns in his coverage area all season.

Lions defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn, a former Pro Bowl NFL cornerback who played over 15 seasons, said back in December the next step in Oruwariye's development is to become a shutdown corner as far as his man cover skills.

28. WR MICHAEL GALLUP, DALLAS COWBOYS

Prediction: Detroit Lions — Two years $25 million ($14 million guaranteed)

Gallup joins Godwin and Beckham Jr. as receivers who tore their ACL entering free agency, and it’s tough to really evaluate how teams will view him. The Lions make the most sense for Gallup because he can be their WR1 when he returns, but since they most likely won’t be competitive in 2022, he won't be pressured to produce like an alpha receiver right away.

No Market Value posted by SpoTrac yet for Gage

WR: RUSSELL GAGE, ATLANTA FALCONS

This free-agent class is full of quality wide receivers, but there are only so many top guys to go around. Gage is in that next tier of wideouts and should be viewed as a good consolation prize for the teams that lose out on the top options. He became a more featured piece in Atlanta’s offense over the last couple of years and has performed admirably, posting 76.4 and 74.7 PFF grades over the last two seasons. Gage owned an 84.1 receiving grade — ninth in the NFL — from Week 11 on this past season. He’s generated separation against single coverage at an 88th percentile rate since 2020. Any team that needs a receiver that can consistently get open at the short and intermediate levels of the field should target Gage in free agency.

I've read where quite a few Lions fans have wanted Jaguar WR DJ Chark. He's a speedster but has endured injuries these last couple of years. He did play/start 13 games in 2020. I also believe he made Pro Bowl 1st team in 2019. I'm not a fan of spending $$$ on a tier2 WR but.....
