About as likely as any other Mock Draft and the Lions would need more or better picks than this scenario of

  • Seattle Seahawks trade No. 9, No. 40, No. 72, and Denver’s second-round pick in 2023. -----------(2080 pts. plus 250 pts. for 2023 2nd rd.)
  • Detroit trades No. 2 and No. 218 ----------------------------------------------------------------------(2602.3 pts)
Holmes would need Seattle's 2022 No. 9, No. 40, No. 41 and Seattle's own 2023 1st round pick

Some worthy players but highly doubt they are available at designated draft slot, T. Walker, D. Wyatt, C. Watson, D. Parham, H. Haskins.
This would be a pretty damn good haul to add talent to the roster.

Round 1, Pick 9: EDGE Travon Walker

Round 1, Pick 32: DT Devonte Wyatt

Round 2, Pick 34: S Jaquan Brisker

Round 2, Pick 40: WR Christian Watson

Round 3, Pick 66: LB Damone Clark

Round 3, Pick 72: TE Jeremy Ruckert

Round 3, Pick 97: WR Wan’Dale Robinson

Round 5, Pick 177: IOL Dylan Parham

Round 6, Pick 180: RB Hassan Haskins

Round 7, Pick 232: CB Jaylen Watson

I would do this in a second. I would look for and IDL though with one of those last 3 picks.

I'm not a fan of Brisker even though he has high scores for coverage. Maybe, he can become better in coverage beyond 15-20 yards, but his play style is suited closer to the LOS.

Well we will need someone to do that. He could be that in the box 3rd safety Glenn likes to use.

I'd rather have Pitre or Cine.

Pitre's playstyle would be more in line with playing in the shallow zones and covering TE's and RB's on routes but his defending the run with 10 yards off the LOS is pretty damn good.

Cine is similar to Pitre but his eyes can wander or become fixated on play-action, but he's a better tackler than Pitre or Brisker from what little I've seen.

None of these 3 are going to be great or even above average beyond 20 yards for the first year or two

Cine is my first choice. Then Pitre. But it is close. Brisker is still acceptable.

I wouldn't hate drafting Brisker, but he surely isn't at the top of my list.

Cine's athletic profile surprises me quite a bit, but that forty speed was lacking against Bama both times. I've warmed up to the possibility for him being a Lion.

I love the idea of having Pitre over AJ Parker as the nickel CB and before you start talking about how Parker performed well, I'll just reply that I believe Pitre is the more talented and better option in the long run. Parker could be a reliable backup and great competition for Pitre all at the same time.

BTW, AJ Parker was one of the worst NB in the league.

I am open to just about anything with this draft. lot's of possibilities.

The only thing I am dead set against is drafting a QB with the 2 pick, not a single qb in this draft is worth a 1st. I could live with one of them taken 32 or 34, but I would not love it.

This might be my favorite mock yet. Took critical needs through the 4th round, then took flyers on A+ athletes late. If Carson Strong's cartilage replacement is successful he is easy the best QB in this draft imo. Extra 1st and second next year.

You had me all on board until taking a QB at 32 or 34, but you did state, "I could live with", so a no does exist as a possibility.

There is better talent at either slot that would fill a need and not be a clipboard holder.

Yeah, my preference is no QB until a late round flyer, I just could live with one taken at those spots. Pick 2 would destroy all confidence I have in new leadership.

Pretty damn good and I agree with taking flyers on A+ athletes late. They're developmental players.

I cant even live with that. No QBs early for me.

You got hosed on the grade for the C Watson pick. I am praying he lasts that long.

Trade with which team? Surely not the Saints as they just gave up their 2023 1st round and 2024 second picks to the Eagles.

That trade feels like the Eagles are hedging their bets if Hurts does not take the next step. Puts them in a decent spot to move up for a QB next year. Which is not ideal for the Lions if we don't take a QB round 1 this year.

It is ideal for the Lions if we do take one though, we will be picking near QB range, and can help the Eagles out with a trade back!

This makes sense.
It must be a me thing and as usual I left my thinking cap asleep.

we don't take a QB round 1 this year.

Goff is Holmes' guy at least for the next year, if not the next two years, and I don't see him drafting a QB at all this year.
