Not sure they could have worked things out but they could have had both. From where I sit the Pelicans wirh Zion instead of Davis look pretty damn good, don’t see them reversing that deal.

was watching more of the draft. Flipped to Cavs some. Not sure if he was being defiant or just not forcing anything. Did have 10 rebounds in only 22 minutes.
Guess wasn't listening that closely...what'd he say?Lol @DMC diss on Cleveland...
Not if getting Zion was an nba conspiracy lolNot sure they could have worked things out but they could have had both.
So Jeannie Buss has put a list together of the 5 most important Lakers of all time.
KAJ, Kobe, LeBron, Magic & Phil (????). Calling bullshit on this list. No way in hell is Phil more important to the Lakers than the late Dr. Buss. Odd his own daughter doesn't know that.

She only mentioned lebron because he is there now

Meh, considering the history of the Lakers, I'm not sure how you name just 5.
You can go all the way back to George Mikan who was the first dominant big man in what would become a legacy of dominant bigs that stretches all the way to today.
Then owner Bob Short was the one who moved them to Los Angeles.
Jack Kent Cooke built The Fabulous Forum and delivered their first title in Los Angeles.
Dr. Jerry Buss turned them into arguably the NBA's most glamorous team if not it's most important.
Bill Sharman coached them to their first title in Los Angeles.
Even though he was an announcer, Chick Hearn is very important in Lakers history. He actually had a sizeable role in Pat Riley becoming a coach. He also did much of the early leg work in promoting the team when they first got to Los Angeles.
Pat Riley was responsible for 5 titles as was Phil Jackson.
You could argue that Jerry West was as important, if not more important to them as an executive than as a player. Mitch Kupchak was definitely more important as an executive than as a player.
How about Jeanie herself?
That's all before you get to players...the aforementioned Mikan and West. Elgin Baylor, Wilt, Kareem, Magic, Shaq, Kobe, Lebron.
I'm sure I'm forgetting some folks too. How do you pick just 5 out of all of that?
This is true...I was referring to after the season if they decided to work things out and keep him (or just play hard ball). Not saying this was gonna happen, only as part of this hypothetical.Doubtful. With AD, I doubt they finish with a bad enough record to have a shot at winning the lottery.

I say this as one who can admit as a fan I don't know and can only go by what we are told.....but seem like solid picks. Picked for need and also no headscratchers. You following the Browns picks? If so how you like them? Saw about 15 minutes ago they took a DT outta Ohio State. Always like it when our team drafts Buckeyes.

I agree. Trying to only pick 5 is next to impossible. But Phil shouldn't be one of the first 4 or 5 mentioned. One question though. Riley & 5, thought Paul Westhead was the Lakers HC went they won it all in '80? Too lazy to look up when Riley's first year as HC of the Lakers was.

Yeah, that's technically correct. People, myself included, tend to forget about that because of how it all got started.
They started the season with Jack McKinney as the HC. It was McKinney who installed the offense that became known as "Showtime". McKinney was actually hired by Dr. Buss to put in a running offense.
McKinney suffered a near fatal head injury in a bicycling accident 13 games into the season. Paul Westhead, who was McKinney's assistant, took over. Pat Riley, who was Chick Hearn's color commentator on Lakers broadcasts stepped in as assistant coach. Then Riley took over the next season when Westhead was fired.
So, Riley had 5 titles, 4 as HC and 1 as an AC.
